I’m in the spotlight today with Christmas magic and a bunch of fun! I know it’s only October, but I’m ready for the holidays and so is River’s Edge. Today is release day for Made for Mistletoe, book 3 in the Walkers of River’s Edge series and we are all about the holidays! This one is Cameron Walker and Harper Gaines’s story and it is full of emotion and heart. I cried while I wrote it and then again when I worked on revisions.
I want to celebrate in a special way, so here’s a little giveaway for you. For a chance at a River’s Edge holiday goodie bag that includes a signed print copy of the River’s Edge holiday book of your choice, a surprise gift of either holiday wine rings or a bracelet, a $10 Starbuck’s gift card, a River’s Edge notebook, and other assorted fun swag–all tucked into a Tule tote, in the comments below, just tell me how you know it’s really the holidays. For me, it’s going to Yuletide at the symphony. The feel of the holidays in the air, the music, the laughter…it’s all magical!
I hope Made for Mistletoe touches your heart and brings holiday joy to your life. Welcome home for the holidays to River’s Edge!
Made for Mistletoe
This Christmas he has big plans until he meets a beautiful distraction….
Army reservist Cameron Walker loves everything about the holidays in River’s Edge—celebrating with his big family and carving out more time to work on his custom design furniture in his studio. But when he meets a visiting artist and niece of a family friend, he’s eager to break his work plans for play. He knows first-hand life’s short.
Teacher and artist Harper Gaines is bowled over by the handsome and friendly finish carpenter she meets during her vacation. His admiration for her art and his enthusiasm for life light her up, and remind her of how much she’s been missing since her soldier husband’s death. But when she discovers Cam’s also a soldier, she retreats, unable to risk another loss.
Cam has never felt such a strong connection, and he won’t give up without a fight. But will Cam’s persistence and the magic of Christmas be enough to convince Harper to take a chance on them?

I feel like it is Christmas, when I start seeing homes decorated. I am already watching Christmas movies, but I haven’t started listening to music yet.
Nan
You’re ahead of me, Denise. I don’t start my Christmas movies until after Thanksgiving. Hugs!

I know it’s the holidays when I start hearing Christmas music even though it’s starts earlier than ever. A favorite tradition of mine is going to the Christmas play at the local community theater. This year is The Miracle on 34th Street. The play always puts me in the holiday spirit.
Nan
Yes! Love Miracle! Enjoy!

It’s not the holidays until I see snow. But it should be soon in our neck of the woods
Nan
Oh snow! Yes!

Other than Thanksgiving weekend, when the mall does their tree lighting event. That’s a couple weeks before Thanksgiving.
Nan
Ah, that’s a fun event! So glad you stopped by!

Seeing Santa at the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade makes it feel official for me.
Nan
That’s pretty official. 😉 Love watching the parade!

When holiday songs start playing on the radio non-stop.
Nan
Yup…I sing along in the car! At home it’s Christmas Classics on Pandora!

I used to know it was the holidays when it was Thanksgiving week. Now, the time is being moved into October when Hallmark starts playing Christmas movies. For me, It ends up being about the middle of November when I sit down and work on Christmas cards. There is a local radio station that begins playing Christmas music around the beginning of November. My husband always looks forward to listening to the music. Happy book birthday. Thank you so much for the opportunity. God bless you.
Nan
Debra, the music does it for us too–I love James Taylor at Christmas. I start listening to it around the first of November. Then I drag out my other CDs after Thanksgiving.

The music. I especially like the hymns and specials in church, but I also love classical Christmas music. And of course, Advent & the lighting of the advent candles, bring home that it’s Christmas time.
Nan
Advent is such a beautiful season at church, isn’t it?

Happy release day! Decorations in the stores
Nan
Thank you! Yeah, it’s always a treat to see stores start decorating for the holidays, isn’t it?

I know it’s really the holidays when Christmas music starts playing in the stores and on the radio. Also, family begins to text about what food we should have! I love that so much. We are Italian so we plan everything around food.

I know it’s really the holidays when I see the houses all decorated and hear Christmas music on the radio and in the stores. I come home and my house is decorated inside and out and I’ve been baking and wrapping presents. ❤️⛄️
Nan
Somehow, the lights and the Christmas tree and the stockings and candles seem to make it all more real, right? Plus the wonderful smell of baking holiday goodies! Yum!

I know it’s the holidays when we decorate our house and yard, we put up our tree, decorate it and start listening to Christmas music!
Nan
Ah, that’ll do it! 🙂
Nan
The tree is the best, isn’t it? I love how cozy it makes my house feel!

I know it’s the Holidays when my husband I attend the Carroll Arts Program Charlie Brown Christmas where after the movie of Charlie Brown, a jazz trio, Eric Bryd trio comes out and plays the music from the movie. It’s awesome, we have attended for about 20 years now.
Nan
Oh, how fun! I love that music!

For me it’s the stores starting to decorate and putting out their wares. The music, family time, watching kids everywhere trying to behave before Santa comes. Getting closer to Christmas it’s the Advent wreath in church signifying the last 4 Sunday’s before Jesus’s birth and the true meaning of Christmas. Also, knowing we will be spending it with family and friends.
Nan
Seems like the stores start getting ready a little too early, but it is fun to see all the stuff they set out.

I love everyone’s comments so far! I align with all of them: the storefronts, music, crisp air, church services, decorations–all that fun stuff! And _Made for Mistletoe_ is a winner. I like your explanation that it’s filled with “emotion and heart.” Congrats!
Nan
Thanks, Roseann! I’m with you–all the fun stuff! Hugs!

Happy release day!

Oops, sorry. Got in a hurry. I start to “feel” the holidays when the stores start gearing up for them. I seem to be easily led.
Nan
As long as they wait until after Halloween, I’m with you about the stores. Thanks, Liz! <3

Good morning Nan. Happy book birthday. I absolutely adored this book.
I celebrate every holiday. Every month I find some way to decorate my house for that month. But there is something definitely magical about the Christmas holiday. There’s so many things leading up to Christmas but the thing I love the most is Christmas Eve. Going to church.Having dinner with the family afterwards and taking a walk about a quarter of a mile down where a gentleman decorates his house to the max. It’s just a wonderful evening.
thank you so much for this chance. I would definitely love to see an autograph copy of your book sitting on my shelf in my home library.

How do I know it’s the holidays?
First of all daylight savings time ends. This means the sun sets around 5pm in Wisconsin. The shortened hours of day light and cooler temperatures allow me to break out my sweaters, jeans and gloves. The leaves turn gorgeous colors and raking begins. Normally I smell word burning but fire conditions are banned due to no rain. I receive apples from my daughter’s tree. I love apple pie. I baked 2 last week. Delicious!
Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends!
Thanks for appreciating your readers!
Nan
I love sweater weather, too, Laurie! And I just baked an apple pie yesterday. It was grand!
Nan
Thank you, DeeAnn! That sounds like a perfect Christmas Eve! I’m all in!

It’s the start of the holidays when my family and I go to our local Botanical Gardens to see their lights and decorations. We have gone every year for going on 5 years and it just seems to really kick of the season.
Nan
Oooh, I bet that’s really pretty! What a wonderful way to start the holidays!
Janine
Happy Release Day! I know it’s Christmas when my church starts the holiday services. There are always lots of fun events that lead up to Christmas.
Nan
Thank you, Janine. I remember church prep for Advent–always lovely! Hugs!
