Author Spotlight: The It’s Me! Edition (Pssst…There’s a Giveaway!)

***We have winners! Michelle J and Linda Herold–you were both chosen at random for a free e-book copy of Meet Me in River’s Edge,  Lisa Reigel, you are the winner of the prize box! I’ll be in touch! Thanks so much for helping me celebrate Jo and Alex’s story!***

Does it feel like we were just here a few months ago? We were! But today is a red-letter-day for me, the Weaver Sisters, and Tule Publishing! Jo Weaver’s story, Meet Me in River’s Edge releases today–it should be waiting for you on your e-reader when you wake up this morning!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this book–and yeah, I know I say that every time, but Jo and Alex are a couple that are dear to my heart. Jo is so closed up and when she finally opens her heart to Alex, you can’t help but feel the joy. Alex is charming, yet dealing with own issues. These two truly belong together and by the end of the book, I was cheering for them. (I do know that I wrote them and I could make them be whatever I wanted, but as usual, they took over their story. I was just the one who told it.)

I’m going to be all over the ‘Net today, but especially at the Tule Book Club Launch Party at 7 p.m. EST (4 p.m. PST) with lots of fun and some great giveaways there, too. Follow me on Facebook for details, but click here to join the book club and then scroll down on the right for the party link. I’d so love to see y’all there!

GIVEAWAY!

To celebrate today’s release, I’m doing a little reader giveaway (picture is merely a sample)! Two randomly selected lucky commenters (US and international) will receive a free e-book copy of Meet Me in River’s Edge and one very lucky reader will receive a box of goodies (Continental US only, please) that includes a signed print copy of Meet Me in River’s Edge, a handmade bracelet or necklace, a Starbuck’s or Amazon gift card, a River’s Edge notebook/pen and some other random swag. All you have to do for a chance is tell me in the comments below if you’ve ever been on a boat–any boat will do from a rowboat to a Caribbean cruise and every thing in between. I’ll draw winners on Friday morning.

Meet Me in River’s Edge

He ticks every one of her “never again” boxes…

Jo Weaver loves her job as a boat mechanic for her family’s marina in River’s Edge, Indiana. But when she’s pulled away from her high school reunion with her sisters to fix a stranded yacht, she can’t restrain her irritation. Jo doesn’t like wealthy men who think they can have whatever they want, and she has no intention of falling for rich and charming again.

Born into the international Briggs Hotels empire, Alex Briggs has never felt comfortable with his life of privilege. Abandoning his family’s business to pursue medical research, he’s far more at home in his lab. When the yacht he restored himself breaks down on the way to an important conference, Alex begrudgingly goes in search of a boat mechanic and falls, literally, into Jo Weaver’s arms. The fireworks he feels are impossible to ignore.

Jo does her best to keep Alex in the business zone, but he keeps slipping into something more. Can she trust her fragile heart, especially when Alex and his life-altering research are so far from River’s Edge?

We used to own a small motorboat and went out on the chain of lakes in northern Illinois. Sadly we sold this around 2000 and haven’t done much boating since then.

Happy Book Birthday! I have been on a variety of boats from fishing boats to large cruise ships. I grew up going to the lake with my grandparents and they loved to fish. I have been on river boats too, they were fun too! In California, I have gone on whale watching boats, they are so much fun, and I really only see a lot of dolphins though. I hope to do a cruise again someday.

It was called Dietz Lake that we had a cabin at. I remember getting strawberry pie from their little restaurant and store. But we also fished on lakes that were part of fishing clubs my grandparents belonged too. I can’t remember the name at the moment, but at one point, my grandparents lived on the property and ran the bait/gift shop, which I helped with starting at like age 8. I wouldn’t touch the crickets though!

    Happy release week, Nan!

I’ve been on boats a few times—paddle boats and kayaks a couple times, deep sea fishing on a slightly bigger boat, a catamaran for snorkeling once, and a small cruise ship for a river cruise. We’ve also been on a ferry several times, and a whale watching outing. Alas, the kids all got seasick ‍♀️. That was considerably less fun, LOL.

    • Nan

Seems like I remember Son telling me about taking Grandboy whale watching and the same thing happened–dunno if they saw any whales…

    Happy Book Birthday Nan!!!

My dad bought a ski boat when I was in middle school, so it is safe to say I’ve been in boats. I’ve been other times too, but that boat more times than I can remember. Thanks for the chance!

  • Debra Pruss

Yes, I have been on a boat a few times. I would go out on a lake when I was a child at my Dad’s boss’ cottage. On our senior trip, we went deep water fishing in the Atlantic. I have also been on paddle boats. Happy book birthday. Thank you for the opportunity. God bless you.

  • Latesha B.

I’ve been on a fishing boat once or twice, a ferry a couple of times and several cruises. Happy Release Day, Nan!

    • Nan

I’ve never done one, although so many of my friends have been. My neighbor is doing a Rhine river cruise right now as a matter of fact. 😉

  • Kathleen Bylsma

Yes, I have, many times…row boat for trout, power boat for salmon, rockfish … streamm and ocean bank fishing , too 😉

    • Nan

Ah, boats and fishing–you are Husband and Son’s kind of people, Kathleen! Son has a bass boat and they are fishermen!

  • Lisa Reigel

Lots of different boats -,rowboat, speedboat, canoe, dinner cruise, ferries, sightseeing boat, paddle wheel boat. Don’t own a boat but always try to do some kind of boat ride in trips.

    • Nan

I love boats, too, although I’ve never been on a cruise ship. I prefer to be able to see land when I’m on the water. 😉

  • Joannie Sico

It’s been a long time since I’ve been in any kind of boat but yes I have been in a few. I have been in paddle boats, canoes, speedboats/motorboats, and even a good size boat with a kitchen, bathroom, & bedroom down below and not exactly a boat but even been on jet skis. The cover looks amazing! The goodie box would be a wonderful surprise, fingers crossed! I would definitely prefer the paperback, it’s easier for me to read. Thank you for this awesome chance!

    • Nan

Hey, Joannie! Jet skis look like so much fun, but the one time I rode behind someone on one, I was terrified. Silly because I had on a life jacket and I can swim fine…just too fast for me. Hugs!

  • Laurie Beach

This book sounds soooo good! Congratulations on your newest book baby! As far as boats, I was on a fishing boat last week—caught some bonnethead and sand sharks. I’ve taken an air boat on a swamp tour, grew up waterskiing on the Tennessee River, and have taken some cruises. But I’ll always love the smaller boats best—I like being close enough to touch the water.

    • Nan

I saw your posts on FB, Laurie–the fishing looked like a bunch of fun! And yeah, I’m with you on the whole touching the water thing… hugs, honey!

  • Donna E H Durnell

Yes, I’ve been on boats. My daddy liked to fish, and he had a boat always – to the day he died. I didn’t always go with him, but there were plenty boat rides over the years.
Then when hubby was stationed in Europe, we had at least 4 rides on the ferry to England.

    • Nan

We’ve loved having boats over the years, including our current pontoon, which is older, but still quite serviceable. Love cruising the lake in it!

  • Roseann McGrath Brooks

Congrats on the release! I love Jo and Alex’s story. My dad loves to sail, so I’m a big fan of sailboats. And a friend recently invited us on his tritoon boat. (That’s three pontoon thingies for us word peeps.)

    • Nan

Thanks, Roseann! I’ve sailed in a little wooden sailboat called a penguin, but that’s all. I’d love to go again sometime. Our pontoon is only a two-toon–but there are lots of tritoons on the lake.

  • Jennifer Wright

Happy Release Day!! I can’t wait to read the new book. I’ve been on a Riverboat, Ferry, paddle boat, pontoon, but no cruise ships.

  • Janine

Congratulations on your newest book baby! I have been on a boat a few times. Mostly just random boats with friends on the lake. But other times were more fun. One was a dinner/luau cruise when I went to Oahu for my 40th birthday and the other was a sunset cruise, for an anniversary (with my ex) when we went to Maui. I also went on a cruise with my mom to Mexico and back.

    • Nan

Oh, wow, that is the way to celebrate a birthday! Hawaii is so spectacular, despite the tragedy going on there right now. We were on the big island in February–my first time there–I’d go again in a heartbeat!

  • Doris Lankford

I have only been on a small motor boat and realized I didn’t like it and haven’t been on one since. Happy Release Day!

    • Kate Sparks

Boats! All kinds from cruise ships, speedboats, rowboat and the USS Alabama along with a submarine at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

      • Nan

Oh, Kate, I’ve been to CMSI–great museum, plus on the USS Alabama and the ship at Pearl Harbor where they signed the Japanese surrender documents. Fascinating stuff! Thanks for stopping by!

    • Nan

I know other folks who just aren’t into boats. I think it’s an either you-are-or-you-aren’t kind of thing. I love it! Thanks for coming by, Doris!!

  • Linda May

I have been on a boat, a ferry boat and have taken two cruises so much fun. Thanks for the chance at this amazing giveaway.

  • Beth Reimer

    Hi Nan,
I have been on boats I’ve been on a Carnival Cruise and also small motor boats water skiing and fishing and crabbing.

  • Patty Fontenot Duplechin

I have on different sizes boats but no cruise ship. Thank you for the chance. Awesome giveaway. Love your books

    • Nan

Patty, happy you came by. No cruise ships for me–doesn’t really interest me. Delighted you’re enjoying River’s Edge!

  • VickiB-Calif

I much prefer the printed copy over an e-book, can hardly wait for my chance to order the printed copy. I’ve been on several different sizes of boats over the years. I did do one cruise ship, it was okay, but I prefer smaller boats. I have really been wanting to do a riverboat cruise, love the picture of the boat used for the new cover. I am positive I would want to go on that boat. Absolutely enjoy reading your books and am so glad you have more to come.

    • Nan

Vick, so glad you came by and that you’re enjoying River’s Edge. Print is available at Barnes & Noble, and will be at Amazon soon, I’m sure. It would be fun to do a riverboat cruise, wouldn’t it?

  • Laurie Gommermann

I went on an overnight cruise on The Badger car ferry which went from Manitowoc, WI to Ludington, MI, when I was in 2nd grade. I was so excited I didn’t want to go to sleep.
I’ve been on catamarans, sail boats, row boats, canoes and speed boats. I’ve lived on or close to water my whole life.

    • Nan

I’d love, love to do the WI to MI car ferry! I’m definitely a lake girl and I do love Lake Michigan! Thanks for stopping by!
