Sunday Snippet: The July Memos Edition

Yup, it’s that time again… I have some things to say…

Dear July Weather,

I’ve enjoyed the rain and wow have we needed it! That said, I’m kinda over the sultry heat and humidity. Can we just stick to the low 80s and a shower or two, or even a great gully-washer, for the rest of the summer?

Swelteringly,

Nan

Dear Hair,

You know I love you and that I can even be a little prideful of how pretty you are most of the time, but (and refer to the previous memo to weather), it would be nice if you’d hang onto a style for longer than five  minutes in the heat. I look great in the mirror, but then I go outside and I’m bedraggled and flat before I take 50 steps. A little cooperation wouldn’t be out of line.

Limply,

Nan

~*~*~*~

Dear Office Garden,

Oh, how happy you’ve made me–so full of color and life! I promise I’ll get you weeded and deadheaded very soon! Meanwhile, keep growing and glowing!

Smiling when I look out my window,

Nan

Dear Grandboy,

You’ve had such a summer of adventure with theater camp and Scouts, and you’re going to have even more fun as you and Mom and Dad head off to Germany. Absorb your heritage, dear one, and enjoy every single moment. And count your blessings, darling. These are trips that most people don’t get to take until they’re adults. Can’t wait to hear all about it!

Love you to the moon and back,

Nanny

~*~*~*~

Dear Husband,

What a lovely date last night! Music in the park, sitting under the stars, holding hands with you was the perfect way to spend a July evening. Let’s do it more often, okay?

Avec grand amour,

Moi

Dear Son and DIL,

Thanks a million for coming by this week and setting up my new computer workstation. Wow is this like ever cool and yes, I know you’re both thinking, “Welcome to the 21st century, Mom,” but you not only got me into the present, but you also saved me a big shot of money. Love you both so very much!

Feeling quite on trend,

Mom

Dear Current WIP,

Hey, seriously, you can quit kicking my ass and let’s just get this story told, okay? We both know what’s going to happen. We just need the words to keep coming out the ends of my fingers, right? You know, if we get done, we both get a little break, so…onward!

Creatively, but exhaustedly,

Nan

Gratitude for This Week: A music date with Husband, the verbena is taking over the garden and it’s gorgeous, flatbread pizzas for supper, I’m settling into my new computer setup and I really like it, Meant To Be hit the Amazon Top 100 Bestsellers List–YAY!

Stay well, stay safe (especially if you’re traveling), be kind, and most of all, stay grateful, mes amis!
