Sunday Snippet: The Holy Cats, It’s December Edition
Yup…it’s December and that happened before I even realized Thanksgiving week was over. Seems as if I’m gobsmacked every single year to realize Christmas is just over three weeks away at the beginning of December. Is it just me?
I didn’t used to be this way. Long ago, BAN (Before Author Nan), I was pretty well through my Christmas shopping, the house would be decorated, I’d have started my Christmas baking by now. This year, I’m just grateful to have finished my latest WIP by the deadline (which, okay, I confess, was on an extension).
Now, I’m taking a writing breath, but still doing Christmas in River’s Edge promotion for all four holiday River’s Edge books (29 days left) and Christmas in River’s Edge (Book 3 of the Weaver Sisters) (14 days left). I’m preparing for book signings, one today and one next Saturday. I’m doing a podcast next Tuesday and a Tule Book Club Christmas Party on December 12. All in all, author life goes one even when I’m taking a short break–and this one will be short. Next book starts on Monday.
I started this post on Saturday morning, but got caught up in book signing prep, so now it’s Sunday morning, so I get to share some photos of Books at the Bistro! Eight authors came together to create an event at the Whyte Horse Winery & Bistro in Kokomo, Indiana, oh my, it was a treat! Tables looked fabulous, everyone was happy to be together, and it was so terrific to see my author pals!
We were all so grateful to Amanda Crain for welcoming us to Whyte Horse where there was plenty of great food and wine. My buddy, Moe, who comes along as a miracle of a helper on my book signings, and I shared a bottle of Traminette–the official grape of Indiana–with our tablemate, cozy author and fellow Tule author, J.C. Kenney.
It was a treat. There were three Tule authors in the mix, which was fun. I was so glad to get to spend sometime with other Indiana authors as well, including Kyra Jacobs, Cathy Shouse, Lynn Crandall, Mellanie Szereto, Cheryl Brooks, and Ava Cuvay. Here are some pictures from the event. We will all probably do this together again in the summer at the Whyte Horse Winery location in Monticello, Indiana, so stay tuned!
I hope any of you who can will check out my next book signing at Gal’s Guide to the Galaxy library in Noblesville Indiana on December 9. I’ll be there from two to four p.m.
Gratitude for this week: I wrote THE END on Joey and Kara’s story; book signing went well; our Christmas tree is up–soon to be decorated; got to spend time with Moe and the kids last night; friends with Covid are healing up just fine.
Stay well, stay safe (it’s everywhere, so masks and vaccines), be kind, and most of all, mes amies, stay grateful!

Looks like you had fun at the signing. Hope you get to relax and enjoy the holidays, Nan.
Nan
We sure did! I’m going to give it my best shot, Latesha. Hope yours are lovely, too!

The end of the year sure seems to be moving fast for me too. It seems I was just flipping over the calendar to November and then it was already December.
Nan
How is that happening? Hope you get some down time, Janine! Hugs!

How fun – yes, having book signing events during the holiday season does put some tangle in your tinsel. You got this!
Nan
I love “tangle in your tinsel.” Too cute and yup, that just about covers it.

Time is flying by so fast! So glad you had a good day yesterday.
Nan
We did, but it wasn’t the same without you, sweets! Hope you’re feeling better!
