Author Spotlight: Elle Douglas Brings the Christmas Joy!

Cheri J, you are Elle’s winner of the mouse ornament and an ebook; Roseann McGrath Brooks, you are Elle’s winner of a $10 Amazon gift card. Ell will be in touch with you both! Thanks to everyone who stopped by! We love our readers!

I’m so happy to welcome fellow Tule author and fellow Christmas romance author Elle Douglas to the Spotlight today with her new holiday novella, Wish Upon a Christmas Star. Is that the most gorgeous cover or what?

Elle Douglas writes small-town contemporary romance for lovers of warm, feel-good stories that are on the sweeter side. Her novels feature strong, relatable characters living in tight-knit communities, with a backdrop of stunning Canadian wilderness.

Elle is a lover of 90’s alternative music, a wannabe chef specializing in comfort food and a sometimes reluctant but usually dedicated gym-goer who lives in Toronto with her wife and their cat Lucy (or Lucifer, depending on the day). Between writing romance novels and working as a high school guidance counselor, Elle works exclusively in helping others find their happily-ever-afters.

Hello dear readers!

My name is Elle Douglas, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with you, and to share a bit about my new release Wish Upon a Christmas Star.

My editor referred to it as a “gorgeous little cutie” of a story, and early reviews are calling it “the perfect Christmas read to tuck into a stocking for all the fans of small town, wholesome, romance reads” and “a sweet, Christmas romance perfect for the Hallmark Movie channel.”

Something I love about this novella is the element of nostalgia. The story is set in the late 70’s, a time that, after having spent some time researching, I feel like I would have loved experiencing! This decision wasn’t arbitrary—Christmas in the Rockies holds a special place in my heart, with its snowy landscapes, crackling fires, and that nostalgic aura we all seem to crave during the holidays, and I find a real appeal to a time when life was slower and the holidays were perhaps a bit more easy to be present for without the constant buzz of technology.

Those of you who were alive in the 70’s might also enjoy some of the music and culture references! Whether you were sipping eggnog in the 70’s or not, there’s something uniquely enchanting about the Christmas season, with its blend of warmth, love, and memories.

This novella is also a kickoff to an upcoming four-part series that takes place in present day, with each book featuring one of the four future daughters of the couple from Wish Upon a Christmas Star.

GIVEAWAY! To celebrate, I’m giving away this adorable felt mouse ornament (there are so many options for these mouse ornaments, but the star motif on this one won me over!) with a copy of the e-book, and as a second prize, a $10 Amazon gift card for when you’re ready to start putting a dent in your holiday shopping (or… just to treat yourself!). Just tell me in the comments: what food, tradition or song makes you the most nostalgic?

Thank you for reading, and thanks Nan, for letting me drop by!

Wish Upon a Christmas Star

Attorney Jeannie Carmichael can’t wait tocelebrate Christmas at her grandparents’ Butterfly Lake Lodge in the Canadian Rockies. The night before she leaves, Jeannie and her colleagues stop for drinks at a local pub, where she chats with the handsome, charming guitar player of the house band. He shares his number, but Jeannie’s eyes are on her colleague and the promise of an invite to his fancy New Year’s Eve party, so she stuffs the number into her purse.

Everett McCarthy is shocked when the beautiful Jeannie from the bar calls him, but it’s about a Christmas Eve gig at her grandparents’ lodge, not a date. Still, he and the band accept and head to the mountains. Over the course of an eventful party, a tussle with an errant elk, and midnight snowshoeing through the woods under the glow of the romantic Northern lights, Everett is smitten. Christmas morning pancakes, a family hockey game and an evening sharing dreams by a bonfire under the stars seals the deal. He’s in love.

But can he convince Jeannie that their Christmas kiss is just their beginning?

I love all Christmas cookies, but decorated sugar cookies are my favorites. Then there’s carols on the radio, Christmas eve services, decorations, and so much more. I love Christmas! And I agree with Nan: the book’s cover is perfect!

I used to make fudge, divinity, and pralines with my mom’s mother – the grandmother who lived only a couple states away and who we saw most often since my mother was an only child. After many years of failures with the divinity I stopped making it, but I’ve found and modified a great bourbon pecan fudge recipe that always makes me think of the winter holidays with her.

Whenever I hear or sing Silent Night. I seem to be taken into another space and time. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.

I grew up in the 70s and I always enjoyed drinking eggnog. Christmas spent with the entire family meeting at my great-grandmother’s house was always special.

For me, it is my Christmas cookie platters. I will spend days baking cookies to share with family and friends. I have been doing this for many years, so it wouldn’t feel like Christmas if I didn’t do it.

I grew up in 70’s, so excited to read. Baking cookies brings back so many memories from growing up. We pick out a Saturday in December when the grandkids come over for a day of baking!

Sounds like an amazing book. I love the cover too. I think the thing that makes me most nostalgic about Christmas is when I start seeing lights on people’s houses or businesses.

Agreed! I don’t know about where you live, but here in Toronto it’s dark around the holidays and there are no leaves on the trees. The lights add life and warmth- it’s so lovely.

Good Morning. This book sounds like a fun read. I was a teenager in the 70’s and I look forward to reading your book. Every time I smell meatloaf baking I remember my Mom. She made the best.
