Hi everyone.

Thank you, Nan, for inviting me to chat with you and your audience today.

I’m thrilled to be hosted by a fellow Tuligan and it’s so exciting to share this experience with all of you. Today I’m celebrating the publication of my debut novel, A Chain of Pearls book one in the Martha’s Vineyard Murders series that just released April 9. I know. I’m probably still crying.

A little about me. My name is Raemi (pronounced like ‘Amy’ with an ‘R’) Ray and I hail from Boston, by way of New Jersey. Many years ago, more than I care to count, while at college, I took my first trip to Martha’s Vineyard and instantly fell in love with the island. It’s far enough away to be a destination, but close enough that it’s not unusual for us to pick up go for quick but necessary break. It’s the best of both worlds. One particularly rainy spring in 2021, when I was overwhelmed with my office job and definitely not contemplating murdering anyone, I was missing the island desperately, and the idea was born.

A Chain of Pearls is a ‘whodunnit’ style mystery.

An expat travels from London to the idyllic island to settle her late father’s affairs and stumbles across the mysterious circumstances of his death. Suddenly his death doesn’t seem so accidental. No, it sounds a lot like murder. With the help of some colorful characters, she meets on the way, Kyra and a surly but handsome detective work together to solve her father’s murder.

I intended the book to be a fun, beach read. The perfect accompaniment to sitting on South Beach with a cocktail, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you do enjoy Kyra’s mystery and exploring the island with her in this book, please, keep an eye out for books two (The Wraith’s Return) and three (Widow’s Walk) publishing later this year. You’ll see the same cast of characters but always a new mystery.

Thank you again for your time, today. Make sure to follow me on my socials for more information about the series, giveaways, and my travels to and from the island.

~ Cheers

A Chain of Pearls

The last thing she wants is to dig up the past…

When the body of a celebrated journalist is fished from the Edgartown Harbor, the official report rules his death accidental. But why was he alone on a senator’s yacht during a nor’easter? That’s only the first question London-based lawyer Kyra Gibson has when she arrives on the idyllic island of Martha’s Vineyard to settle her estranged father’s affairs.

She’s not looking for closure. She’s not seen him in decades since he left her with her aunt following her mother’s death. But as Kyra delves deeper into her father’s life, she learns he had many regrets and wasn’t as retired as she believed. The more Kyra discovers, the more questions she has. With the help of world-weary detective, Tarek Collins, they uncover a web of intrigue and corruption involving a powerful senator, a dubious energy company, and brutal murder.

As they chase down clues, Kyra and Tarek flirt with danger and race against time to solve the murders and uncover the dark secrets lurking beneath Martha’s Vineyard’s picturesque façade of old money wealth and privilege.

Congrats on the release! Love the snippet! It’s raining here today, and I’m longing for the Outer Banks — well, any warm beach, really, but I know the Outer Banks should be warming up right about now!

Congratulations on your release, Raemi! This story and series look to be great. I miss going to Atlantic City or Las Vegas. What can I say? I like to gamble to feed my book addiction.

On a rainy day, I just long to be home in my kitchen with my husband and two cats. Thank you for sharing. God bless you.

On a cruise ship relaxing while at sea. I think watching the rain would be lovely as long as there is no lightning.

Love the sound of your book, Raemi, have always fancied Martha’s Vineyard, but haven’t made it there yet. Love a good mystery. Wishing you a fabulous writing future and lots more lovely books. xx Fi

Congratulations on your new book! I dream of being able to go to Hawaii again. I have memories of past trips to daydream about.

I love going to the beach, not in the sand, because of the places sand can get in to. My love is to watch the waves and not be able to see the other shoreline.

The series sounds so interesting! Martha’s Vineyard has been on my bucket list for years, and I think vicariously may be the only way I get there, so you’re giving me a vacation as well as a read. Good luck with your release.
