Weekend Writing Warriors 8-Sentence Sunday #5
Another snippet from The Music Is You, my current WIP. Carrie has confronted her old friend and former teacher, demanding to know how Maestro Liam Reilly has shown up in Frankfort, Michigan. Eliot confesses he invited him, telling her she needs to face him and deal with their issues. Carrie spends a sleepless night wondering how she’s going to cope with Liam’ s sudden reappearance in her life after all these years, but the next morning…
Barefoot, she ran down the steps from the loft. Eliot had a lot of nerve showing up this early. Surely he knew she didn’t get any sleep last night. She threw open the door. “I’m not speaking to you.”
“You haven’t spoken to me in over fifteen years. What else is new?”
She gasped as her sleep-drugged mind registered the identity of the man standing on the other side of the screen door.

Wow, what a fantastic moment! LOVE it!
Oh, interesting. Such a flippant comment for someone she hasn’t spoken to in years to make! Says a lot about his character!
He was going for casual, fun–hoping she’d respond in kind. Um…no such luck, dude… Thanks for coming by, Clare!
Oh, I just bought your book, (Rule Number One) btw. As soon as I clear off a few others in my queue, I’ll start into it!
Bless you, Teresa! Hope you enjoy it! 😉
Nice! She was ready to chew out Eliot, and (I think) found Liam standing outside her door. 🙂
Nan, I want to thank you for the suggestion on my wewriwa post today. Wow–so much better! 🙂
And from me and the rest of the 8sunday, team–it’s our pleasure to do this. We really feel that you guys–the participants are the most incredible people. You make it all happen. It’d just be an empty website without all of you. 🙂
Teresa, you guessed it–Liam is there, blindsiding her first thing in the morning.
You’re welcome for the suggestion–I’m glad you liked it. I’m always a little nervous to make suggestions, but you asked and it seemed to work. I really do love participating in WeWriWa–a bunch of fun to hear from others about my work and to discover new authors by going from site to site. Cool, cool idea!
I love the mix up when she answers the door. I can’t wait to read her response.
Thanks, Shannyn! Response is next week–I warn you, she is not pleased… 😉
I like the ending – tense! I don’t know anything about these characters but I get the feeling Carrie’s not going to just sputter at him for long 🙂
Hi Marcia! Thanks for stopping by! Nope, she’s not a happy girl…and he’ll find that out pretty darn quick!
