Weekend Writing Warriors 8-Sentence Sunday
Sunday’s here and so are the Weekend Writing Warriors! Continuing the scene in the coffee shop between Carrie and Liam in Once More From the Top, they’re finally face-to-face after 16 years. She’s determined to maintain her cool, even though inside, she’s a wreck, but his cool is making that impossible…
“Mind if I join you?”
She shook her head since he was already pulling out the chair opposite hers. When she was
finally able to speak, her voice was raspy. “What are you doing here?”
“Getting coffee?”
She gave an exasperated sigh. “I mean what are you doing in Willow Bay?”
“Vacation… with a little work thrown in.” He eyed her over the lid of his cup before taking
a sip. “How are you, Carrie?”
Thanks for stopping by and please don’t miss the other Weekend Writing Warriors. Head on over and check out the work of dozens of other writers. You’ll be so glad you did!

Hi Nan – I think he’d make me a little nuts, too. He’s so together as if he’s unaffected (but I think we know the truth).
Congrats on the release of the books!

Nice. Crisp dialogue. I like how he eyed her over the rim of the cup–sets up the tone of the question that follows. 🙂
