• Sunday Snippet: The I-Think-I’m-Breathing-Again Edition

I don’t want to be political here–frankly, I’m tired of being political anywhere. 2020 was an exhausting year in so many ways, but especially politically. However, I will say this. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are a breath of fresh air in a world that had begun to stink to high heaven. I have hope that I will get to be with my friends again, go out to eat again, feel safe in the grocery store again, hell, feel safe in the world again. I’m desperate for vacations–the lake, writing trips with Liz, a wine-tasting trip with Husband, and a writer’s retreat with my fellow Tule authors in 2022. I…

  • Celebrating Seasoned Romance–Why?

This month, I’m featuring authors who write seasoned romance–stories with characters who are over 40 and finding a second or even a third or fourth chance at love. Way back in February 2012, as I was writing the first Women of Willow Bay novels, I wrote this blog and it feels just a relevant today as it did then. Let me know what you think. I’m bugged. It seems that romance novels are the bailiwick of characters who are younger than 40. If 40 is the new 30 and 50 is the new 40, then how come romance after 50 isn’t sexy anymore? Well, folks, I’ve got big news–sexy is…

  • New Year, Big News!

Happy New Year, Mes Amies! We had a wondrous start to 2014 with our dear lake pals, who spent New Year’s Eve with us here at home. They all stayed overnight to have a special New Year’s Day breakfast.  Champagne and wine flowed, and a delicious supper and yummy breakfast filled our bellies with bliss. The house was full of laughter and love, and Husband and I were thrilled to host these lovely folks. My big news is that the first two books of my Women of Willow Bay series are now available on Nook, Kobo, and Smashwords platforms!  I’m so excited to offer these romantic books to my readers…

  • Monday Morning Quarterbacking…

Last week I did my first real book promotion by making Book 1 in the Women of Willow Bay series, Once More From the Top, a freebie on Amazon. Just over 14,000 readers downloaded the book, a number that feels really huge to me. Now I told myself I wasn’t going to do the math to figure out how much that would’ve been in sales. My friends, mentors, editors, book designers, etc.,  Lani and Alastair from StoryWonk, warned me not to do that. But of course, I did it. Yes, guys, I’m confessing to you here in this semi-public forum. I did the math! I thought the dollar numbers would…

  • Weekend Writing Warriors 8-Sentence Sunday

Sunday’s here and so are the Weekend Writing Warriors! Continuing the scene in the coffee shop between Carrie and Liam in Once More From the Top, they’re finally face-to-face after 16 years. She’s determined to maintain her cool, even though inside, she’s a wreck, but his cool is making that impossible… “Mind if I join you?” She shook her head since he was already pulling out the chair opposite hers. When she was finally able to speak, her voice was raspy. “What are you doing here?” “Getting coffee?” She gave an exasperated sigh. “I mean what are you doing in Willow Bay?” “Vacation… with a little work thrown in.” He…

  • Weekend Writing Warriors 8-Sentence Sunday

It’s Sunday and you know what that means! Time for another snippet from one of my novels. So we’re still with Carrie in ONCE MORE FROM THE TOP, and she’s still reeling after discovering that the man who’s haunted her dreams for so long is suddenly  in Willow Bay. In this scene, she’s sitting in the local coffee shop reading the paper a couple of days after seeing Maestro Liam Reilly for the first time in sixteen years. Of course the big news in the Arts and Entertainment section is…you guessed it… The headline jumped out at her as she shook the Record-Eagle open to the Arts and Entertainment section,…
