Sunday Snippet: The March Memos Edition
March has been an incredibly busy month so far–finishing a book, starting a new one, editing gigs to do, promotion to get lined up, plus housework and laundry and keeping fit. Thus, I do have a few things I need to get off my chest–the first one is a yay, though!
Dear Gal’s Guide Library,
Congratulations on your 2024 anthology–Nourish. It releases April 13 and I can’t wait to get my copy! And huge congratulations to bestie, Liz Flaherty, whose essay “The Rickrack Chronicles” won a second place medal in the anthology! Nobody does it better, my friend, and I’m so proud of you!
Beaming,
Nan
Dear Spring,
Are you here or aren’t you? One day it’s 70 degrees and sunny, the next it’s 32 and gloomy. Time to stay if you plan to–I have stuff coming up in my gardens and I’m ready for warmer weather.
Floweringly,
Nan
~*~*~*~
Dear Book 1 in the Dykeman Family series,
Hey…chill out! I’ll get to you, but first Annabelle Walker’s story needs to be told and I need to tell it. So just wait your turn, okay?
Writing as fast as I can,
Nan
~*~*~*~
Dear Sweets,
Time to stop calling me. I did so well all winter and here you are, tempting me with your sweet, chocolatey deliciousness. Just quit it! Neither my blood sugar, my heart, nor my ass need you.
Too easily tempted,
Nan
~*~*~*~
Dear Wind,
Okay, okay, I know the whole March comes in like a lion thing is real, but oh my! I walked against you three days in a row and I’m ready for a break. Calm down…my heart can only take so much.
Breezily…or not,
Nan
~*~*~*~
Dearest Grandboy,
Wow–you are becoming quite the actor! Poppy and I love so much seeing you up onstage. You were fabulous in your school’s production of Frozen, Junior and we can’t wait to see you in other performances.
I’m already a fan,
Nanny
~*~*~*~
Dear Election Cycle,
I’m already exhausted and we haven’t even gotten into the primary here yet. The lies, the accusations, the utter nonsense of it all is making me want to simply sit in my house and drink wine. I won’t, because voting is important and we have to keep the loons at bay, but geez…
Sighing,
Nan
~*~*~*~
Dear Sliding Knot Bracelets,
Come on! Seriously? I know I’m not that crafty, but This shouldn’t be so hard to do! I will master you!
Frustratedly,
Nan
There we have it… I’d love for you to chime in with your memos in the comments–we all have something we need to get off our chest, so now’s the time! I’m listening…
Gratitude for today: My editor has Cam and Harper’s story; The sun is out this morning; Coffee, coffee, coffee; nice evening of wine, pizza, and cards with the kids; lunch with sister PJ–so good to see her and catch up!
Stay well, stay safe, be kind to one another, and most of all, mes amis, stay grateful!

Congrats to the Liz and the other authors in the Gal’s Guide Anthology. How exciting! Gotta say, Grandboy is adorable. As for the election, I’m scared, really scared. So all you romance readers out there, please vote.
Nan
Yes, Roseann, I second your plea–please vote and let’s protect our democracy.

All good points, Nan! Congrats to Liz!
Dear March Madness,
I get that you have to come around annually or we’d never be done with college basketball. There are too many references to you, though. My inbox says “March Markeing Madness” with someonemtrying to sell me something, and “March Madness Book Sales” are becoming a thing.
We don’t need anymore hype, thanks very much.
Bored basketball widow,
Cathy
Dear Full Eclipse 2024,
So much ado about four minutes max in time. Are you kidding me? Ever heard the phrase, “less is more?” Every town in your path is filling the weekend before your Monday showing with activities.
Well, you can’t get here soon enough for my taste. Cancelling school? Really! So much for kids being behind education-wise. Just be sure not to hide behind clouds and disappoint all the people clogging the roads trying to get a better look..
Taking a dim view of you,
Cathy
Nan
Great memos, Cathy! Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
Liz Flaherty
I love your memos, especially when I’m featured! Lol. Thanks for the shout out. It was certainly a thrill. Like you, I can’t wait to get my hands on the book!
Nan
My pleasure, Liz, I’m so proud of you and your essays are always top notch! Hugs!
