Sunday Snippet: The And We’re Off…Almost Edition

I am beyond excited right now. I passed excited on Friday and I’m into full-on thrilled and nervous because on Tuesday, writer pal, fellow Tule Publishing author, and roomie extraordinaire, Carol Light, and I are headed to Montana! Yup. I decided that if I was going to write about Montana, I should go out to Big Sky Country and check out the glorious mountains and ranches and rodeos for myself. I asked Carol if she wanted to come, too, and she hopped onboard, so the mystery writer and the romance author are off on a big adventure! Next week, Carol and I will be here nightly with reports on where we’ve been and what we’ve seen each day. Or at least, that’s the goal…

On another topic, but not really, when I made the setting transition from River’s Edge, Indiana, to Montana, I worried that my RE readers might not respond well to a break from all the happenings in my little Ohio River town. I hope that they will follow me west and have fun with me and all the characters and places in my new series. So far, I’m feeling hopeful because this amazing review of the ARC of Forever Cowboy turned up this week. I was so touched and delighted, I confess I got a little weepy as I read it to Husband.

Western Romance with all the feelings

ARC REVIEW: Book publishes 25 Sept. 2025

Whether the book is set in charming River’s Edge, Indiana or under the wide open skies of Montana, if it’s written by Nan Reinhardt it’s on my must-read list.

Sometimes, a mistake isn’t just a mistake. Sometimes, it’s an opportunity to take a new path. Beth is adrift after the end of her 20-year marriage. Del is struggling with a close friend’s devastating rodeo injury as well as when – and how – to end his own successful rodeo career. A booking error lands them together on a Montana ranch and a journey of healing, growth, self-discovery, and love follows. Reinhardt packs this book with an immersive setting, multi-layered characters, relatable issues, and a realistic happy ending. I laughed and cried (this author’s characters always tug at my heartstrings) before turning the final page with a happy, heartfelt sigh.

If you’re looking for a feel-good western romance with heart, humor, and emotional depth, give Forever Cowboy a try. I hope Nan Reinhardt has plans for more Montana books because while I love her River’s Edge community (and fingers crossed for more books there), I am all in with her new Montana community of characters too!

Wow! Isn’t that fabulous? I’m so excited to be writing in this new setting and if this review is any indication, maybe all my readers will be excited too! Forever Cowboy is Book 4 in a new Tule Publishing coming in September, multi-author series, Montana’s Rodeo Cowboys with Nicole Flockton, Sinclair Jayne, and Jeannie Watt. It is also Book 1 in my own new series, Juniper Falls Ranch. Sure hope you’ll ride along with me as I head West!

Gratitude for This Week: A week of Nanny Writing/Reading Camp with Grandboy was a success and I got words written too; A great review for Forever Cowboy; The rain is making my gardens grow like crazy; I’m almost packed (not OVERpacked) for Montana; Son came by for a swim with Grandboy and me–fun!
