Nan & Carol’s Big Adventure Montana Style
We’re here! After a combined 4 airports, we’ve arrived in Big Sky and wow! It truly is BIG here! Big mountains, big rivers, huge rocks and trees… it’s a little overwhelming but absolutely gorgeous country.
I left my local airport at 8:30 a.m.; Carol left her local airport 10:15 a.m. and we met up in Denver Airport. Then we flew together to Bozeman–one of the cutest airports I’ve ever seen! There are bears and moose everywhere and some crazy huge bird hanging from the ceiling! There’s even a convenient bin to dispose of your bear spray, which made us laugh. The whole airport was mountain stone and cedar beams–really pretty and lodge-y (If that’s not a word, it should be).
We also saw the coolest ad for a fishing outfitters that was like the universe telling me that moving from River’s Edge to Montana is a capital idea! Take a look!
We rented our car and drove through a very winding road that paralleled the Gallatin River, which is shallow, but sparkling as it rushes over rocks. The mountains on either side of us were huge and maybe even a little intimidating, but we made it to our condo with a stop at the local Big Sky grocery store for supplies along the way. (Yes, we bought wine and chocolate because how are supposed to write without it?)
Carol is an amazing driver of our little Prius, which took us forever to find in the garage and to figure out how to work the gear shifter. Two writers gamely messed with the damn thing until we got it beat–never mind that the shifting pattern was displayed right there next to the gear shift knob. We were tired, what can I say?
We promise we’ll post pictures of the mountains as we stop along the road on our way to whatever adventure awaits tomorrow.
Thanks for coming along with us … we’re so glad to have you share this trip!
Big love to all,

Sorry. Accidentally replied to Doris, but you know what I mean. I should never try to do this kind of thing on a phone. I’m a laptop girl!

I like Margie’s idea for the LFL for bear spray! Have fun out there in the big sky. Thanks to you both for visiting the Window today. https://www.lizflaherty.net/post/through-montana-windows

So exciting! Thanks for sharing! I’m almost done the ARC of Forever Cowboy and can’t wait to write a fun review!

Love the update. However, I kind of think the bear drop bins should be like little free libraries. Leave a can, take a can. So folks coming into Bozeman can arm themselves before leaving the airport 🙂 Enjoy. Looking forward to your adventure!
