Her kindle is never far from her reach. She’s a certified chocoholic, Cinderella lover, major BTS fan, sports lover, and a glitter aficionado.

GIVEAWAY: One lucky winner will with an Ebook Copy of my book One Hot Texas Summer and a $5 Amazon gift card. All you have to do is answer this question in the comments below. If there is one place you could go, where would it be? Winner will be drawn on Friday, July 23 at noon.

N: Welcome to the blog, Nikki. I’m so delighted to have you back! Have you always wanted to be a writer?

A: I can’t say that I’ve always wanted to be a writer, but now that I am I can’t imagine doing anything else – except on the days when the words aren’t flowing or I’m hating everything I’ve written.

N: Home to the Outback is the first book in your new series, Welcome to Bunya Junction. What do you like best about writing a series?

A: I loved being able to go back to my home country of Australia and having a series set there. It’s been a while since I’ve done that. It was really like coming home again.

N: Sindy, your heroine, is a nurse and Ryan is a doctor. Do you have a medical background or did you have to research?

A: No I don’t have a medical background. My first book ever published, and second one I’d ever written, had a medical theme too. I go online to research treatments and symptoms or I have a couple of nurse friends I can always reach out to if I get stuck to make sure I’ve got it correct.

N: Home to the Outback just released yesterday. Can you share with us something about this new Aussie story that isn’t in the blurb?

A: Family dynamics are in play in this series. The heroine has a twin brother as well as two other siblings. And Ryan, the hero, was best friends with Sindy’s twin Scott as kids. Definitely a lot of mending of fences in the book too.

N: How many more books in this new series and will we meet the characters in this first book?

A: There will be another three books in the series. Sindy’s siblings will get a chance for their stories to be told.

N: Talk to me about writing a man’s POV as a woman? Any problems?

A: I’ve never had an issue with writing a man’s POV. I think I tend to have a better handle on the men I write than the women.

N: If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

A: Dare to dream.

N: What do you like to do when you are not writing?

A: Reading. I love to read so my kindle is always nearby. I also enjoy watching sports on TV. I’m not a binge show watcher.

N: What did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I thought about being a kindergarten teacher, but then realized I wasn’t that great when it came to doing art things so I decided to find something else to do which was becoming a secretary, which I loved doing.

N: Favorite book when you were a kid?

A: Hmm not sure I had a favorite book as a kid.

N: And here is my signature question that everyone loves: If you could choose three people, living or dead, to invite to a dinner party, who would they be and why?

A: Hmm okay let’s see – Tom Brady because the guy loves what he does and looks after himself really well. Princess Diana because she was so lovely and well, she has to have secrets I’d love to find out about. Hugh Jackman because he’s an Aussie and an all round nice guy and he’d be fun to hang out it.

Home to the Outback

Coming home isn’t always easy…

Three years ago, nurse Sindy Carruthers returned to Bunya Junction wounded, wary and shamed by a relationship gone wrong. Welcomed home by her family and supportive community, she now manages the local medical practice and enjoys her newfound confidence. She’s perfectly happy on her own, until a blast from the past in the form of Ryan Flanagan appears.

Dr. Ryan Flanagan—renowned plastic surgeon to the stars—heads to Bunya Junction to pay his last respects to the man who opened his heart and house to an abandoned boy. Ryan’s no fan of Bunya Junction or the harsh judgments of some of the townsfolk, so he’s stunned to discover that his old mentor has bequeathed him half a general medical practice—hoping he’ll stay on and serve the community. The other half of the practice now belongs to the beautiful Sindy Carruthers, his closest friend’s twin sister.

Sindy knows Ryan will never stay in Bunya Junction and become her business partner, and that’s a good thing. Otherwise she might just lose her heart to him.

Answering the question of where I would like to go: It sounds so clichéd by now, but honestly, I am dreaming about returning to Paris.

This sounds like a great series, Nicole, and it’s wonderful you were able to go back to your home country of Australia and have the series set there.

And the cover is so pretty. Tule really has good covers. Wishing you much continued success!
