Author Spotlight: Elsa Winckler Is Here with Delicious Cowboys!

I love it when Elsa Winckler comes to visit–her cowboys are yummy and her stories full of exactly what makes a happily-ever-after so romantic!

Elsa has been reading love stories for as long as she can remember and when she ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James, the Brontë sisters, etc. during her Honors studies, she was hooked for life. Although her three gown-up children rarely acknowledge the fact they have a romance-writing mom, her husband fortunately, is very proud of her, reads every word and is happy to make sure she gets the kissing scenes just right.

She likes the heroines in her stories to be beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong.  And the heroes must be strong but possess a generous amount of sensitivity. They are of course, also gorgeous.  Her stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.

She’s here today to share the inspiration for her latest release, Home to the Cowboy, available now!

When the publisher asked for two more stories in the Westons of Montana series, it coincided with thoughts about June Kincaid who came knocking for her own story. You’ll remember she’s the publisher from Seattle who reached out to Becket Weston after she saw the illustrations of his dogs (Reckless with the cowboy, Book 2 in the series) and visited Marietta to sign a book deal with him.

The idea that she’s been in the foster care system since a baby was immediately there, I didn’t even have to think about it. Way back when, my first post as a teacher was in a small suburb of Cape Town that has a children’s home for kids whose parents, for whatever reason, are unable look after them. The heartbreak of those stories we encountered at the time still haunts me to this day, probably the reason why the trope of a “found home” has always appealed to me and inspired me to write this story.

The only “family” June has, is her best friend Abby (her story releases September 1) whom she met in the system. June has never quite fit it, never quite felt at home anywhere until she visits Marietta and meets the Westons – loud, called weird by the folks in town, but fiercely loyal once they’ve “adopted” you.

With her second visit to Marietta she’s offered a lift after her car breaks down outside town by a seriously handsome cowboy, Dylan Weston.

Sparks fly immediately, but memories of Dylan’s own unhappy childhood prevent him from giving love a chance. Writing a happy ending for these two souls brought happy tears to my eyes – I hope you’ll enjoy it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Giveaway: Elsa has an e-book of Reckless with the Cowboy, book 2 in the Westons of Montana series for one lucky commenter. Just tell her in the comments below if you’ve ever suddenly felt at home in a place you’d never been before.

Home to the Cowboy

A sexy, small-town cowboy intent on righting some wrongs. A woman stranded and wanting to start over…

In the heart of Montana’s breathtaking ranch country, rugged cowboy Dylan Weston is determined to heal a decades-old family feud by uniting the Weston ranches with his cousins and brother-in-law. Strong family bonds and small-town loyalty runs deep in Dylan, and he’s determined to do everything to make this work. But his life and goals skew sideways when he rescues the stunningly beautiful June Kincaid, who is fleeing the big city and a cheating fiancé.

Publishing executive June craves the quiet charm of the quaint Western town to heal her heart and finally chase her own dreams of writing a children’s novel while she works remotely. Sure, the betrayal still stings, but the sexy, protective cowboy ignites a scorching attraction that complicates everything.

As sparks fly, and Dylan’s extended family dabbles in matchmaking, June faces a quandary. Can she leave Seattle for good and trust love again, finally having the family she’s always dreamed of?

A steamy cowboy Western romance brimming with family values, ranch life, and scorching heat.

When our youngest son and daughter-in-law moved to Vermont immediately after their wedding, I took it … oh … reasonably well. Then, when I went to visit them the first time during “mud season,” I fell in love on the drive to their town from the airport, and felt at home from that moment. When the kids left Vermont several years ago, I was nearly as brokenhearted as I was when they moved there. While my heart is always where family is, I think my soul’s still in the Northeast Kingdom.

Good luck with your new release. It sounds wonderful!
