Introducing a NEW series by Melinda Curtis set in Montana: The Bennetts of Bentwood Creek
Dearest cowboy loving reader,
When I sat down to create a new cowboy series, I wanted to head to a new location. I’ve written about cowboys in Idaho, Wyoming, and Oklahoma, but I wanted to head somewhere I had a connection to. And then, I recalled many childhood trips to visit my uncle in Missoula, Montana. Uncle Bob loved the outdoors and took us all over the area to hike, kayak, and explore small towns. I loved it there. And Bentwood Creek was born.
And now, I’m going to let one of my favorite characters in this series take over the introductions.
Enjoy!
Melinda Curtis

I suppose introductions are in order.
Not that anyone in Bentwood Creek ever waits for those. News travels faster than a pickup with a tailwind out here, and by the time you’ve set foot in town, someone’s already decided whether you take your coffee black or sweet.
Still…
If you’re new, I’m Irene Bennett. My family calls me Gran.
And if you’re here, it means you’ve come to hear about my boys.
All five of them.
My husband—God rest him—believed in doing the right thing, even if it meant it was the hard way. So instead of leaving one big ranch behind in his will, he divided our land back into the five original properties that he’d built into the Bennett spread. Five ranches scattered across the high plains of Montana, each with its own quirks, its own challenges…and now, its own Bennett brother trying to figure out what to do with it. Even if they aren’t ready to come home and deal with it.
And me, o’ course.
But Bentwood Creek has a way of calling you back—whether you answer politely or get dragged kicking and complaining.
Let’s start with Hayden. He’s the oldest. The steady one. The one who never should have left, even when staying meant carrying more responsibility than any one person should. But leave us, he did. Folks say he left when Vi Fisher left him at the altar but that’s just part of the story.
Now when Eve Fisher, Vi’s younger sister, accidentally bumps into Hayden at the Coffee Corner with a rather unusual problem and an ex-husband on her tail, I knew Hayden wouldn’t let her stand alone, even if his history with the Fisher family isn’t the prettiest of tales.
I won’t pretend life is easy for my boys, even when they think they’ve got it under control. But we Bennetts get through with grit, laughter, and love.
So, if you’re looking for a story about cowboys who learn how to love, women who know their worth, and a town that feels like home the minute you step into it, pull up a chair and stay awhile. Bentwood Creek isn’t going anywhere.
And neither, if I have anything to say about it, are my boys!

The Cowboy’s Accidental Bride
In Bentwood Creek, a broken vow leads to an unexpected promise.
Hayden Bennett is done with love. After being left at the altar, the Montana rancher returned home determined to protect his heart and honor his grandfather’s final wishes. But dividing the family ranch five ways, managing a wandering grandmother, and holding everything together alone is more than even a stubborn cowboy can handle.
Single mom Eve Atkinson is done with marriage, too. Recently divorced and rebuilding her life in Bentwood Creek, the licensed vocational nurse is juggling long shifts, a spirited toddler, and an ex-husband who uses custody threats to control her future. Becoming a registered nurse feels like a dream she may never reach.
When childhood friends Hayden and Eve strike a marriage-of-convenience bargain, it solves more than one problem. She gains stability and protection. He gains the help he desperately needs.
But sharing a home brings buried feelings to the surface. What begins as a practical arrangement soon tests their guarded hearts.
This heartfelt small-town cowboy romance delivers second chances, found family, and a love that proves sometimes the safest risk is trusting the one who knows you best.

This definitely sounds like a Melinda Curtis story, and Irene Bennett sounds sort of like Mrs. Curtis … hmmm. The series sounds great, as all of yours do, Mel. I’m anxious to read about Hayden and Eve.
