Author Spotlight: Kate Moore Has a New Regency for Us!

So happy to welcome Kate Moore back to the Spotlight! Her regency romances are wonderful fun and I’m looking forward to reading The Lady and the Wager, which releases, September 9, but is available for pre-order.

Kate taught English Literature to generations of high school students, who are now her Facebook friends, while she not-so-secretly penned Romances. In Kate’s stories an undeniable mutual attraction brings honorable, edgy loners and warm, practical women into a circle of love in Regency England or contemporary California. A Golden Heart, Golden Crown, and Book Buyers Best award winner and three-time RITA finalist, Kate lives north of San Francisco with her surfer husband, their yellow Lab, toys for visiting grandkids, and miles of crowded bookshelves.

Hello Readers,

Thank you for dropping by, and thank you, Nan, for regularly sharing space with your fellow authors. If we haven’t met, I’m Kate Moore, author of twenty-plus romances, mainly set in southern England, in the places that my mom’s dad came from as a boy in 1912. Mom was endlessly fascinated with her family’s history, and I, too, got the bug. Then, reading Jane Austen made writing Regency and Regency historical romances inevitable for me.

Here I am at my great grandmother’s grave in Moreton, at the church where Lawrence of Arabia is also buried. Wandering this graveyard and standing here is an experience that made its way into The Lady and the Wager, the fourth book in the Duke’s Men series from Tule.

The Lady and the Wager is also a story that allowed me to celebrate sisterhood. I grew up as one of five girls with one brother. Our brother had his own room, his own bathroom, his own clothes, and his own toys. We girls shared everything–rooms, clothes, dolls and more. We shared the back seat of the station wagon, tents, cabin decks, chores, and confidences. Our mother, a great seamstress, made endless matching outfits for us and for our Madame Alexander dolls! Poodle skirts, anyone?

In my book my sisters are heroines all. They are dog people and rescuers of Monarch butterflies. Funny, and endlessly willing to care for others, they love Christmas, and they’ve got years of pop culture covered. They are extraordinarily resilient in the face of trials and losses. Each has said a big YES to love in the most difficult of times. Each is her own person, and each excels at one or more of our multi-faceted mother’s talents–#5 the geologist/tennis player (center); #2 the master gardener/art curator (right of center); #4 the lawyer/writer who’s also a musician/gardener (left end); #6 the green builder/college instructor (left of center).

We now live busy lives in three states, but the nightly sibling text chain pings with updates on puppies, people, adventures, and lots of laughter. One nephew is there, too, to represent our brother! It’s that spirit of sisterhood that I hope I captured in The Lady and the Wager. Here’s how you can find out.

The Lady and the Wager

He won her family home in a card game. She intends to stay to ensure her family’s reputation and future.
