Author Spotlight: Jacinta Peachey Has a New Sweet Romance!

What fun to welcome fellow Tule sweet romance author Jacinta Peachey back to the spotlight! Her books warm my heart!

Jacinta Peachey is an international award-winning contemporary romance author. Her writing is the creative outpouring of a fertile imagination stifled by her first career as a dentist. With a ‘do as I say not as I do’ attitude, coffee, red wine, and chocolate fuel her writing passion. Her stories focus on strong, independent, yet mixed-up women as they navigate life’s unexpected turns.

My Side Characters Have Important Roles

It’s lovely to be back to talk about my second book, A Little Taste of Home. Thanks for having me, Nan.

While I could prattle on about all the fun my main characters have as they move from enemies, to friends, to lovers, confined to a small seaside hotel, forced to work together in trying conditions, I want to take a chance to talk about my side characters.

In my books, as well as sweet romance, I champion the other important relationships in our lives—friendships. The main younger females, Jasmine, Emily, and Nina in my From the Outback to the Sea series support each other through all the highs and lows.

Friendships are so important, and I have lots of small groups that I can turn to for help, just like my heroines. There are close friends from my university days, author friends who hold my hand through another round of edits, and someone who will party with me until the wee hours of the night (like 9.30 p.m., because I am no longer 21 anymore.)  And I wanted to include this theme in my stories as it makes such a huge difference in my life.

There are other friendships within the town folk of Dolphin Cove, but some of those are harder to see. When the interfering retirees try to meddle with my characters’ love lives, sometimes it doesn’t always appear amiable. But they mean well, and they make me laugh. The Lacy Ladies and the Shedders, the characters who live in the retirement village, are my favourite people to write because they get the best lines. Older people can be so unfiltered, and Wally’s side story in this book was a hoot.

Friendship is a subtle message in the book, but so important for healthy living. People work better not in isolation, and when Jasmine is trying to navigate a new relationship plus running a busy hotel, the support of Nina and Jasmine is essential. Today, my subtle reminder is to reach out to a friend and have a chat. You never know how much your words might improve their day.

If you love a sweet romance, A Little Taste of Home features two people who are down on the luck, trying to turn their lives. Extra bonus is if you love a book that features food, as this one might make you hungry because Cam, the hero is an excellent chef, and who doesn’t love a man who can cook? And yes, everything that Cam makes puts a smile on Emily’s face, except maybe the chocolate mousse.

A Little Taste of Home

He’s an award-winning chef with a bank account that just hit zero. She’s an overworked single mom with a crumbling hotel and a toddler in tow. In a kitchen this small, tempers won’t stay on simmer.

Cameron McCracken was the darling of the Sydney food scene until burnout—and a highway robbery—left him stranded in nothing but a wetsuit. Now, he’s stuck in Dolphin Cove in the middle of nowhere, trading gourmet plating for Sunday roasts at a run-down hotel. He’s used to calling the shots, not taking orders from a manager who thinks his “deconstructed parmigiana” is a crime against pub food.

Emmie Hewett is at her breaking point. Between her father’s surgery, a failing legacy, and the demands of raising her daughter, she has no patience for an ego-driven chef—no matter how brilliant he is with a whisk or a toddler.

As the hotel finds its feet, the heat in the kitchen turns personal. But when the city offers Cameron a way back to the top, Emmie faces her ultimate test: can a man who lives for the spotlight ever truly settle for a taste of home?
