8-Sentence Sunday
It’s Sunday! Time for another snippet from The Summer of Second Chances. Remember last week, poor Ben is confused and aroused by the sudden change in his plain little editor. She’s turned into a siren and he’s completely baffled as he joins her for a light supper on the patio, but fascinated by this new side of Sophie. Continuing from where we left off last week, they’ve started eating and it’s clear, Sophie’s enjoying her food (still in Ben’s POV):
Does she know she’s driving me insane, or is she totally unaware of what she’s doing?
Her smile seemed genuine… and beautiful. Ben forked up a couple of peach slices—they were fantastic. As he chewed, he continued to eye Sophie. She brought such pleasure to the table, abandoning her fork, using her fingers to pluck crisp lettuce and cucumber slices from her salad bowl, dipping them in a puddle of ranch dressing she’d poured on the side of her plate. She mixed and matched—first fruit, then cheese, a bite of cracker and then salad. Each tidbit was savored; with a blissful sigh, she sipped the white wine between bites. It was a sensual experience simply sharing a meal with her.
I hope you continue to be intrigued by Sophie and Ben. Stay tuned for more from The Summer of Second Chances. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Please don’t miss the other Weekend Writing Warriors. Head on over and check out the work of dozens of other writers. You’ll be so glad you did.
Here’s the view of Lake Michigan from Sophie’s patio. Enjoy!

Like those before me, letting you know this was great. Love that he decided she wasn’t into him and then…
Nan
Thanks, Millie! Hope to get this issue resolved before next week. Ack! Not sure what the problem is.

Oh my! I tried to leave a comment on this week’s wewriwa post but I’m getting an error post that what I’m looking for can’t be found. So, just let me say here that I enjoyed your latest–and I’ll prolly have to read the book to find out what the hunky editor says in reply to her question. 🙂 lol
Nan
Hmmmm…can’t figureo what’s up with comments today. I’ll have to check with my guru. Thanks, Teresa!!!

Nan, the leave a comment on your present snippet isn’t working, but I think his earlier thought was totally mistaken.

Loved the food. They say the way to a man’s heart is thought his stomach, but this is a little different route.

Sounds like Sophie has a good appetite — another clue that she’s more than a “plain little editor.” Can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Nan
Thanks for coming by, Sandra. Oh, there’s lots more to Sophie than meets the eye.

Dynamite eight. You didn’t miss absorbing this reader with every nuance in every bite and thanks for the pic of Lake Michigan, where I spent my youth.
Nan
Thank you, Charmaine–you grew up on Lake Michigan! I may as well have since my mom took us so often, but I love Michigan!! If my life wasn’t already here, I’d move to Michigan!
