8-Sentence Sunday
It’s snippet time! Last week, in The Summer of Second Chances, we peeked in on Julie trying to convince Sophie to just go for it, seduce Ben, and enjoy a hot summer romance. It’s a couple of nights later and Sophie has decided to give seduction a try. Dressed in a skimpy pink tank top and a white denim miniskirt, she encounters Ben as he’s relaxing on the patio after a long day of writing. Mustering the few vamp skills she has in her arsenal, she goes to work, inviting him to share her supper of salad, cheese and crackers, fresh fruit…and of course, wine. With a little creative punctuation, the scene opens in Ben’s POV where suddenly his mousy little editor has turned into a very sexy lady, something he was not at all prepared for. Uncertain about what’s happening, he decides to play it out and see what she’s up to, but he may be getting way more than he bargained for when he accepts her invitation:
Oh, God, she has wine, and is that brie?
He peered over her shoulder as she carried the tray out to the table on the patio and set out plates, napkins, and silverware.
Does she know I’ve eaten nothing but cold cereal and popcorn for two weeks?
Brie was one of his favorites, and the fruit would be perfect. He sniffed the open wine bottle—apricots and some other crisp cool essence—it might be tasty.
Oh hell, I don’t even like wine… she’s killing me here.
He sat down in one of the cushioned teak chairs, peeking at Sophie’s cleavage as she leaned over to light the citronella candles on the table.
She’s setting a stage here… at least I think she’s setting a stage.
She’s trying to entice me—with the delicious food and wine and this spectacular place and… and the tank top… she’s trying to seduce me… isn’t she?
I hope you continue to be intrigued by Sophie and Ben. Stay tuned for more from The Summer of Second Chances. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Please don’t miss the other Weekend Writing Warriors. Head on over and check out the work of dozens of other writers. You’ll be so glad you did!

Lovely snippet – consider in the last paragraph if it would work better to use entice first and seduce last? Just a thought. Nicely done 🙂
Nan
Thanks, Susan. I switched them up and you’re absolutely right! Much more effective! Great suggestion!

LOL – he comes across as kind of a naive guy; he likes her but never thought about her in a sexy way before. I’m thinking maybe he hasn’t had a lot of relationships. I like this guy!
Nan
He’s just a guy…although he is kinda naive because he’s been in a marriage with a gold digger who took him for a ride. I like him too, Marcia! Thanks for stopping by!!

LOL! Poor Ben! Actually, my BFF had a similar situation in which his now-wife seduced him and he spent most of the evening wondering if the sexy dress and the amazing food for a picnic on her living room floor meant something! I’m really looking forward to this whole scene.
Nan
Hey, Skye baby! So glad you stopped by! Yeah, Ben so wasn’t ready for this… 😉
