Tule Publishing,  Writer's moments

Welcome Author Nicole Flockton

I’m so pleased to have been able to sit down for a chat with fellow Tule Publishing author, Nicole Flockton. Her new novel, Falling for the Texan released August 4 and I can’t wait to read it!

USA Today Bestselling author Nicole Flockton writes sexy contemporary romances that sparkle. Nicole likes nothing better than taking characters and creating unique situations where they fight to find their true love. Apart from writing Nicole is busy spreading glitter all over social media, looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.

N: Nicole, Welcome to the blog! What inspired you to start writing?

I’ve always been an avid reader and on occasion I thought about writing a book. It wasn’t until I made friends on a romance forum and we started a fan fiction of a daily story being posted that I considered that maybe I could write a novel. So I started one.

N: What comes first, the plot or characters?

It’s the characters that come first, then I work out a basic idea of what their story will be.

N: What is the most surprising thing you discovered while writing your book(s)?

That I still get ideas. When the first two books I’d ever written got contracted I was worried that I was two and done. Fortunately the ideas kept coming and here I am 8 years later still going strong.

N: What is the key theme and/or message in Falling for the Texan?

The message I hope everyone gets out of my book is that sometimes the thing you thought you want isn’t what you need. Also taking a leap of faith can lead to forever.

N: If you had to describe Tyler and Gianna each, in just three words, what would those three words be?

Tyler: Determined, caring, sweet

Gianna: Independent, feisty, ambitious

N: What were the key challenges you faced when writing Falling for the Texan?

Having to come up with a design for wine label that was different to the norm was something I had to think about. But apart from that most the scenes flowed into each other.

N: What are you reading now?

I’m currently reading Baby Lessons by Teri Wilson

N: Favorite book when you were a kid?

You know I don’t think I had a favorite book that I read over and over. I just enjoyed everything I read.

N: What was your dream job when you were younger?

Well I always thought I’d be a kindergarten teacher but decided it wasn’t really my dream job. I decided, at 14, that my dream job was to work in an office. I worked as a secretary/executive assistant from the age of 16 until I moved to Houston and loved every minute of it.

N: If you could choose three people to invite for a dinner party, who would they be and why?

Tom Cruise would be one. I know not many people like him and think he’s weird, but I’d love to sit and hear him talk about the stunts he does and all the extra things he learns to make his roles more authentic. Another Tom in Tom Brady, again a figure not liked by many, but again, his discipline to his career is something that can’t be denied. Finally, I’d ask Jungkook from BTS because this group of young men have spoken at the UN and have a great message for those who want to listen.

N: If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Positive, cheerful, loyal

N: Are you working on anything at the present you would like to tell your readers about?

I’m currently working on the second book of a new Australian Rural Romance series that will be published through Tule in 2021 and 2022. It’s great to get back to my Australian origins and this is going to be a fun series to write.
