Sunday Snippet: The December Memos Edition

A long time ago, I did a monthly thing called Memos–it was fun and I’m not sure why I stopped, but this week, I figured I’d revive it, so here goes…

Dear Readers Who Stopped by My Book Signings This Month,

Sure loved seeing you and I do so appreciate you coming out to buy books and visit with me! Thanks for buying my books as holiday gifts–what fun I had packaging them up for you!

Happy to be Signing Books,

Nan

Dear Weather,

It’s about two weeks ’til Christmas–time for some snow. Not a lot, mind you, just enough that it feels more like the holidays.

Wouldn’t Mind a Little Shivering,

Nan

Dear Christmas Shopping,

I know. I know… time to get creative for my loved ones, but here’s the thing, my loved ones are so very blessed already. Okay if I mostly skip you this year and give my shopping money to those in real need?

Knew You’d Understand,

Nan

Dear Book in Revisions,

Hold tight, I’m nearly done with you.  I know I’m examining you mercilessly and that some of those gorgeous words are being tossed aside like so many seeds in the wind, but give me a break. Cooperate and come together. I promise we’ll both be very happy when I’m done and so will my editor.

A Little Overwhelmed,

Nan

Dear James Taylor,

Thank you for your Christmas CD! It’s awesome and as usual, I’ve nearly worn it out this Christmas. I especially love your rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “River.” You are, as always, amazing.

Caroling,

Nan

Dear Neighbors,

I do love your Christmas lights! I took my walk late yesterday evening and so enjoyed all the displays. Thanks for lighting up the ‘hood! Our lights are low-key this year, but we’re still shining brightly, thanks to Husband’s efforts this week.

Feeling Like the Holidays,

Nan

Dear Christmas Baking,

I’m coming, I promise. As soon as these revisions are done…I’m in the kitchen.

Sweetly,

Nan

Gratitude for this week: Time spent with Leah at the Gal’s Guide Library is always a joy; listening to Christmas music each morning after meditation brings me such pleasure; lovely package of goodies from my publisher made my day yesterday (Thank you, Jane!); Husband put up the outside lights–our house shines; fun evening with neighbor/pal Betty at the Allisonville Christian Church Madrigal dinner–Sister PJ was brilliant!

Stay well, stay safe (masks and vaccines, darlings), be kind, and most of all, mes amis, stay grateful!
