• Day 14: Gratitude and We’re Off…

    It’s actually early morning of Day 15, but I’m calling this one Day 14 because I fell into bed yesterday after a long, long day of work and then a chili supper over at Son and DIL’s cottage. I got quite a bit done, so that was a good thing. Son piled DIL and I into his bass boat and we took a quick spin around the lake before supper, which was quite lovely! Totally different boating experience than riding in Husband’s pontoon, but just as enjoyable.   • Chasing Summer

    It’s November 2 and it’s chilly and breezy here at the lake—like wintertime chilly. The sun is shining today, but on Halloween–just two days ago–it snowed! Snow on Halloween! Sheesh! We just walked down to the dock to take a look at the lake, and the wind nipped at my nose so bad, I had to wrap my scarf around my face. Now, as I sit by the window, working and watching the wind scatter our tidy piles of raked leaves back across the yard, I’m wondering what the hell happened to summer? I know summer was here—after all the cottage is still open (although we’re closing up next weekend).…

  • Overdrive…and Memos

    I feel like I”m in overdrive and actually, there’s no reason for me to be. I think it’s mostly left over from the chaos of having the renovation work done and then the kids coming right after and being on deadline for work projects and creating deadlines for my own books. I need to chill out. It’s summer, life is supposed to be slower. The lake calls and all I want to do is swim and boat and visit with my friends there. My editor keeps telling me, “You’re rushing. Just breathe…” and I think it may apply to more than writing my novels. I think I need to heed…
