Sunday Snippet: The What Day Is It Again? Edition
Remember when Tuesday meant you had a good start on the week, it was a pool day, and you knew Husband would be at work and the kid would be at school? When the weekend was well and truly over and you were into your week? All was right in your world.
I have a confession—Husband’s been retired over ten years and I rarely know what day it is. Seriously, I don’t. Most of the time I couldn’t tell you whether it was Sunday or Thursday.
It’s even worse at the lake because every day at the lake feels like Saturday. Weird phenomenon, but it’s true. The only way I can keep track of anything happening during the summer is to consult my trusty Google calendar and my to-do notebook, both of which I check each morning, religiously.
So here’s the thing. Husband loves the freedom of not caring what day of the week it is. Heck, he loves not even knowing what time it is! He took his watch off the day he retired and he hasn’t worn it since. I work at home—on a deadline, but it’s a nebulous this book is due back to the publisher on a date two or three weeks out kind of deadline. So, although I have to know my deadline date, I don’t need to know specifically what day of the week today is.
I need to get more attuned to what day of the week it is however, because I’m going to start Book 3 in my Juniper Falls Ranch series from Tule Publishing this week. I’ll also be thinking about promotion for Cassie and Bo’s story, which releases in January, not sure of the date, but what does it matter? I won’t know what day of the week it is anyway.
So talk to me, do you always know what day it is? Do you care what day it is? Retirement may mean you don’t have to care, but there’s also a certain amount of security in knowing that today is Sunday. It is Sunday, right?
Gratitude for This Week: I finished revisions on Bo & Cassie’s story and returned it to my editor; walks in the ‘hood; Son, DIL, and Grandboy gave me a car detailing for my bday; I got new tires! Our annual camping day with pal Mo happens today.
Until next time, mes amies, stay well, keep speaking up–it’s how we will save our democracy, choose kindness always, and most of all, stay grateful!

Good one! As you know, I don’t know, either. Tomorrow is a holiday, though, so I do know there will be two Sundays in this week and that I will use that as an excuse for not getting anything done.
