Sunday Snippet: The In Between Edition

Good Sunday morning, mes amis. It’s a gorgeous day here at the lake. Grandboy is sleeping in my guest room, Husband is out on the deck basking in the morning sun with a cup of coffee, and I’m here in my lake “office.” (Read bedroom with a card table and wooden chair.)

We had a lovely evening with Grandboy while his parents went out to celebrate their 24th (!!) anniversary. He regaled us with tales of Scout camp shenanigans and told us about the badges he earned. The kid is interested in everything and just a fun storyteller. We love every moment with him. He’s already claimed his spot on the new sofa (the chaise), which Husband and I are enjoying. It really makes the cottage living room feel cozier. What do y’all think? This past week was release week for Help Wanted, Cowboy, book 3 in the Juniper Falls Ranch series. I’ve gotten good reviews and I’m so appreciative of the the folks who read ARCs and left reviews. Reviews are an author’s bread-and-butter.

Help Wanted, Cowboy is such a fun, flirty sweet western romance with complete opposite characters that I couldn’t put down. Nan Reinhardt has created a delightful romance between a cowboy and a nurse plus a fun treasure hunt. I connected with these characters right away. They may be opposites but together, they are a perfect match. The simmering chemistry had me reading late into the night. The descriptive narration is immersive. I love the world Nan Reinhardt has created and her continuity is sublime.”

“Sublime!” I love that!

I’m also working on revisions for book 4 in the series, The Rancher’s Christmas Wife, and doing discovery on the first book in my new series. So I’m in between books. It’s an odd spot to be in–celebrating a new release, revising the next one, and yet immersed in discovery for the brand new story that’s filling my head. So … what’s a writer to do? <shrug>

Swim… that’s been the answer this week. Four of five days here at the lake, I’ve been in the bay with pal Mo, swimming and treading, moving these old muscles, and giving “motion is lotion” vibes to the arthritic knee. The lake is the perfect temperature right now. I am a water person and when I’m in the water, I’m at peace. The rest of life–book promo, revisions, writing–all that needed to be set aside just for a couple of hours each day.

I actually thought I’d have something remarkable to say about the In Between Time, but apparently I don’t. I guess just acknowledging it happens and being okay with it is the most I can do.

Today, I’m going to swim with Son, DIL, and Grandboy, then Husband and I are headed back to the city to mow and take care of that house. It’s a nice life..

Gratitude for This Week: Help Wanted, Cowboy released with great reviews; Time with Grandboy; Swimming; A lovely boat ride with Mo and Husband; The new sofa looks fab!

Stay well, keep speaking out–it’s the only way to save our democracy; always choose kindness, and most of all, mes amis, stay grateful for all your joys.
