Sunday Snippet: The Authors on the Road, Fall Edition
Despite last week saying I never know what day of the week it is, I actually do know it’s Sunday today, mainly because I’m writing the Sunday Snippet. But also because Liz and I are headed out for our fall writing retreat this morning.
We’re headed to Galena, Illinois. Do you guys know that town? We’ve never been there before, which is part of the fun of going, and we have sister PJ and BIL to thank for the accommodations. They’re letting us use their condo. It looks pretty luxurious and has an indoor pool! (That’s the magic word for me, and graciously, Liz goes along with me, even though she’s not the water girl I am.)
We’re taking the scenic route today, driving the several hours to our destination rather leisurely. I hope we find a fun little spot for lunch and maybe a couple of cute shops or interesting things to see along the way.
We’ll post here throughout our week, although, honestly, our writing retreats are pretty much, well, writing… Okay, and wine and cheese and processing and chocolate and wine and walks and trying new restaurants and fellowship and wine… I mentioned wine, right? Hold a good thought that I can get a great start on Millie and Ronan’s story, book 3 in my Juniper Falls Ranch series, and that Liz can keep going on her current WIP because that’s why we go on retreat. To write… and then write some more.
So, hold a good thought for these two intrepid writers as we head west … we’ll report in once we arrive so check us both out on Facebook — Nan and Liz — and on Instagram–Nan and Liz. As I said earlier, we’ll post here, too, in case anything truly phenomenal happens.
Gratitude for This Week: My editor liked my revisions! Got the gardens pretty much put to bed for winter. Writing retreat starts today! Kids had a good fall break by staying in the state and discovering lots of cool new places. Overjoyed at the number of folks who came out for the No Kings protests–peaceful and fun and pretty hard to ignore! YAY!
Stay well, speak up when you can, always choose kindness, and most of all, mes amis, stay grateful!
