Author Spotlight: Sarah Burr Is Her with a New Coco Cline Novel & a Fab Giveaway!

What fun to have my pal and one of my very favorite cozy writers with me today.

SarahEBurr2024_4.jpgSarah E. Burr, a cozy mystery author who’s been dreaming of solving whodunits since her childhood in Appleton, Maine—Nancy Drew was (and always will be) her hero! When corporate life didn’t deliver any real-life crime scenes, she swapped her healthcare tech career for writing mysteries of her own, and she’s been crafting twisty tales ever since.

She is a Sisters in Crime member and co-host of The Bookish Hour and A Bookish Moment, where she chat about all things writing with fellow authors. When she’s not plotting her next cozy caper, you’ll find her belting show tunes, playing video games with her husband, or enjoying long walks with their rescue pups, Eevee and Itto.

The Sleuth Squad Returns: Coco Cline Is Back on the Case!
By Sarah E. Burr

Social media is full of influencers, but only one can crack a case between selfies, and that’s Coco Cline. With her signature style, savvy instincts, and sassy wit, Coco is back for another twisty, murder-filled mystery in #Throwback for Murder, releasing today!

Fans of the Trending Topic Mysteries will know Coco as the stylish influencer-next-door turned amateur sleuth. While she may have started her social media empire with beauty tutorials and trend alerts, Coco’s real gift lies in seeing past the filters and finding the truth. And as anyone who’s read her adventures knows, she’s never sleuthing solo.

Coco might be the face of the investigation, but behind every great sleuth is a squad, and hers is one for the books.

Coco’s strength as a sleuth doesn’t come from going it alone. Instead, she thrives on collaboration and community. Her inner circle is packed with charm, loyalty, and just the right amount of chaos. Whether it’s gathering intel, offering emotional support, or just making sure Coco doesn’t forget to eat, the Sleuth Squad plays a huge role in every case she tackles. Its members are Jasper Hastings, Coco’s best friend since second grade, Charlotte Whittaker, her bestie and closest gal pal, and Hudson Caruthers, Coco’s supportive partner in crime and in life.

In #Throwback for Murder, teamwork is more important than ever. When Charlotte’s ex is murdered, the case gets personal fast. Emotions run high, the suspect list keeps growing, and secrets start spilling quicker than you can say “algorithm.” But instead of letting the pressure push her into isolation, Coco leans into her strengths: asking for help, trusting her friends, and staying curious.

From brainstorming sessions over lunch to nighttime stakeouts (with appropriate outfit changes, of course), Coco’s friends bring their own unique talents to the table. They’re not just side characters, they’re an essential part of her success. Together, they remind us that solving mysteries, much like life, is better with friends.

Sure, Coco might be posting makeup tips one minute and analyzing alibis the next, but at her core, she’s someone who cares. About her followers. About her friends. About her community. And that’s why her stories resonate with cozy mystery lovers. Even with the glamour and giggles, the stakes are real. Coco wants justice, and she’s willing to fight for it, even when it means putting herself in danger.

The bond she shares with her Sleuth Squad keeps her grounded. Each friend brings out a different side of Coco, from vulnerability to determination. They challenge her to dig deeper, think harder, and stay true to herself. They also know when to offer a shoulder, a side-eye, or a snack—whatever the situation calls for.

In many ways, Coco’s mysteries are about more than murder. They’re about friendship, community, and the strength we find when we face life’s biggest problems together.

If you’re new to the series, #Throwback for Murder is the perfect place to jump in. It’s full of what readers love most: quirky humor, clever twists, heartfelt moments, and a heroine you’ll want to follow both on and offline.

And for longtime fans? This latest book brings the return of everything you’ve been waiting for. More Coco. More clever clues. More squad banter. More mystery.

As we celebrate release day, I hope you’re as excited as I am to reunite with this fashionable and fearless crew. Whether you’re here for the puzzles, the puns, or the perfectly brewed drama, Coco Cline and the Sleuth Squad are ready to deliver.

#Throwback for Murder

Some throwbacks are best forgotten.

With crime in Central Shores, Delaware, finally trending downward, social media influencer Coco Cline considers archiving her amateur sleuthing exploits. But when a blast from her friend Charlotte’s past dies under suspicious circumstances, all thoughts of Coco leaving her crime-solving days behind get deleted. The local police are looking at Charlotte, which means Coco needs to find them another suspect, or even better, the real killer.

Teaming up with the Sleuth Squad to clear one of their own, Coco and her friends scour the victim’s socials for clues. What was this guy doing in Central Shores? Who did he have ties with other than Charlotte?

With the evidence mounting against Central Shores’s favorite coffee shop owner, it’s a race against time before Charlotte’s rep is permanently canceled. Can Coco uncover another killer, or will Charlotte go from barista to behind bars?

Coco and her friends sound great. And it’s clear from this blog that you give them fun lives. My friend posse doesn’t come together all at once, but each one is there when I need her or him!

I have had a group of pals in the past that were like that. Unfortunately, we eventually drifted apart. I still have my twin sister as my best friend and strongest support. All three of her friends sound like a great support in different ways.

A twin sister! That’s a bestie for life right there. I actually write about a brother/sister twin duo in one of my other series, the Book Blogger Mysteries. Such a fun dynamic!

Thanks so much for having me here, Nan! A fun fact is that my close friend group inspired the Sleuth Squad, so I am very lucky to have folks like Jasper, Charlotte, and Hudson in my life!

I love the sound of Coco and her posse. While I don’t have a group like that, I do have a group of friends who are a major part of my life. Good luck with the release, Sarah. It’s nice to see you here!

I have not read any of these books yet but they sound like a fun read. I would love to have a group of friends like that but I don’t.

I have a lot of fun writing these books, Doris, so I hope readers have fun reading them!
