Author Spotlight: Leigh Ann Edwards Is Here with a New Romantasy!

I’m always so happy to have pal and fellow Tule author, Leigh Ann Edwards stop by. She is an extraordinary storyteller–her books are full fantasy and romance and fascinating characters.

Leigh Ann Edwards writes smoking hot romantic fantasy with badass heroines, alpha heroes, history, castles, and magic. She believes love is love, that villains should get their comeuppance (sometimes with a stake through the heart), that pleasure is NOT a four letter word, and that “dog” is another word for “joy.”

Don’t let her gentle appearance fool you; this grandmother of four ditched a sad story and is now enjoying her happily-ever-after with the love of her life. She wields her keyboard in Alberta, Canada with a few furry muses by her side.

Her heroines don’t need to be rescued but will gladly work with a competent partner to right the wrongs of whatever world they inhabit.

Thanks so much for inviting me to your author spotlight, Nan. It’s always lovely to be here. It’s been some time since my last visit. I’ve been busily writing the sequel to the Irish Witch and Witches of Time series. This new four book romantasy series is titled: Daughters of the Witches of Time.

The Witch and the Gatekeeper, book one, was released earlier this week.

Today, I’m sharing a blog recently included in my newsletter and website.

Title: A New Generation of Magic Begins

There is something deeply satisfying about returning to a world that still has more stories to tell.

The Irish Witch, my first published series, was special in many ways. The profound love and devotion between Alainn and Killian stayed with me. I always knew their story wasn’t finished. When I first began writing the Witches of Time I realized there was a lot more to be told.

Writing future generations of their bloodline, I understood I was stepping into something layered with magic, history, and the kind of love that refuses to fade.

What I didn’t know then was how far that world would grow, or how many stories would still be waiting for me on the other side.

The Daughters of the Witches of Time begins exactly there.

This new series follows the next generation — the daughters of the original witches — young women born into power, legacy, and expectations they didn’t choose, but cannot escape. Each of them lives in a different century. Each of them faces her own challenges, her own dangers, and her own questions about what it means to carry magic that runs through their blood.

And yet, they are not alone.

One of my favorite elements in this series is the deep connection between these women. Through a mystical mirror hidden deep within castle walls, they’re able to see one another, speak to one another, and eventually stand together across time. That bond, that understanding of what it means to live with magic, to inherit something powerful and sometimes frightening, becomes a kind of lifeline to each of them.

Because power always draws attention.

The daughters, Eilis, Darian, Fiona, and Trista, quickly learn that no magic exists without consequence. There are forces that hunt it, bend it, and would happily destroy anyone who stands in their way. Demons, dark entities, and enemies who have waited far too long for their moment.

And of course, there are the men who stand beside the witches.

I have always loved writing heroes who are strong, capable, and fiercely devoted — men who don’t need to overshadow the women they love but instead meet them as equals. In this series, each witch has a guardian. Each guardian carries his own past, his own burden, and his own secrets…and even his own connection to magic.

Cian Rafferty, the hero of The Witch and the Gatekeeper, is no exception.

He is a man who has spent his life fighting what he is, believing that his destiny has already cost him too much. He has no intention of embracing it. No intention of risking more.

Until Eilis is taken.

Eilis herself is a healer, a woman who’s always put others first, even at the expense of her own heart. She knows her place in the world. She understands what is expected of her.

What she does not anticipate is becoming the center of something far larger than herself.

Eilis and Cian’s story is one of restraint, of longing, of two people who believe they cannot have one another and who are forced to confront what they are willing to sacrifice when everything is at stake.

At its core, this series is about legacy.

About what we inherit. What we fight. What we protect.

And what we choose to become.

There will always be dangers in these worlds, enemies to face, and battles to fight. But there will also always be love; fierce, unyielding, and worth every risk.

I hope you’re swept into the world of this new generation of witches and guardians as deeply I’ve been while writing their stories.

The magic is waiting.

For a chance to win a signed print copy of The Witch and the Gatekeeper, tell me, do you like sequel series? Next generation stories? Or do you prefer standalone books or series?

Nan, thanks again for welcoming me here today. I truly appreciate your help with promoting my books, my friend.

The Witch and the Gatekeeper

Ancient Celtic magic, forbidden longing, and destiny bind a healer and a guardian in ways neither can deny…

Eilis O’Brien has always found purpose as her village’s healer, a calling that helps quiet her secret love for Cian Rafferty—the low-born guard she can never hope to marry. But when she’s threatened, her overprotective father, the chieftain, forbids her to work. Retreating to a forgotten wing of their castle, Eilis discovers a hidden chamber and magical mirror, linking her across time to three young witches, descendants from the legendary Witches of Time. Together with the witches, Eilis must awaken her magic to fight the dark forces hunting her.

Cian Rafferty has fought his whole life the cursed burden of gatekeeper. His birthright destroyed his family, but under Chieftain O’Brien’s guidance, he finally has stability and a future—even though it cannot include Eilis, despite their deep love.

But when a demon captures Eilis and drags her into the realm that claimed his mother, Cian embraces the destiny he fought to save her. Together they challenge an ancient evil with only their love to protect them.

Congratulations on the new release. I love series and next generation books. I also enjoy standalone books but series are what I lean towards.

    Leigh Ann,
Congratulations on your new book sounds so inspired! I love a bad-ass heroine and I’m fond of a series. I’m on the fence about generational stories, probably because I think people put too much stock in “sins of the fathers.” We each commit our own crimes. (Imagine a mystery writer thinking that–LOL!)
Best of luck with Eilis and Cian’s stories! (cool names, btw!)

Thanks very much, Melissa, for the well wishes and liking my characters’ names. I love your comment regarding us each committing our own crimes. When I’m not deep in writing and deadlines I’d like to read more mysteries. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Release Week to you, Leigh Ann! I do enjoy stories with sequels because I always wonder what happened to the other other charaters in the stories.

      Thanks so much, Liz.
I always really enjoy searching for names for characters. I only have two children so I didn’t get to pick many names in real life. I’m making up for it in my stories.
