8-Sentence Sunday
A new 8-Sentence Sunday and I stayed in Sarah’s story because it’s the one that’s on my mind this week. This snippet picks up from where we left off last week. Mack and Sarah are talking about her abusive ex-husband, whom she’s convinced is sitting outside the shelter in a limo waiting for his chance to confront her…
“No, he won’t give it up,” Sarah’s voice sounded flat to her own ears as Mack followed her out into the courtyard. Even as she said the words, the truth of them sent a chill down her spine. She couldn’t shake the image of a mountain lion patiently stalking a gazelle. Watching, waiting.
“How do you know it’s him? It’s been damn near six years, Sarah.” Mack kept his tone low as they headed for the stairs. “Why would he wait so long to come after you?”
I hope you’re intrigued. Stay tuned–I’ll be going back and forth between the two books because…well, because I can. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Please don’t miss the other Weekend Writing Warriors. Head on over and check out the work of dozens of other writers. You’ll be so glad you did!

Exciting and intriguing snippet! Love this line ‘Sarah’s voice sounded flat to her own ears’ simple but very effective.

Great tension in this snippet, Nan. I really like it. I do have one suggestion about your analogy. Mountain lions live in North America while gazelles live in Africa. I suggest you either change gazelle to antelope to fit the mountain lion or change mountain lion to just lion to fit the gazelle. You captured the image of a waiting predator very well. 🙂
Nan
Oh, Siobhan, thank you! Great suggestion and I probably should’ve researched that analogy before I used it. Thank you a ton!!

For some people, 6 years would only make them more dangerous.

Yeah, Sue Ann, he’s had a lot of time to ruminate…and get meaner. Thanks for stopping by!

Time to face the devil she knows and fears. Well written eight. Nan, is this one of your mature romances? If so, how do you market them to reach the right audience?
Please advise if you can to authorCharmaineGordon@gmail.com

Woman’s intuition, Mack. Don’t question it, just help her stay safe. I’ll definitely be back for more of this!
Nan
Thanks for coming by, Kate and yes, she knows her ex!

But I bet she DOES know. IT doesn’t matter that it’s been 6 years. You don’t forget that kind of fear. Part of me wants her to confront him and get it over with – enough being the gazelle 🙂
Nan
Thanks for coming by, Shannyn. Yeah, she’s got to fix this one way or another.
