8-Sentence Sunday
We’re back with a snippet from The Summer of Second Chances and I’m staying in the scene in Sophie’s kitchen for today. You didn’t really think I’d leave you hanging on their first kiss, did you? I’m mean, but I’m not that mean! Remember last week, Ben didn’t think kissing her was a good idea, but here they are after sharing a meal and wine. Sophie’s practically announced that she’s attracted to him, he’s very attracted to her, the kitchen is steamy… He’s dying to kiss her, but he’s still overthinking it…
Don’t do it—turn around and go back to your own cottage.
He stared into her green eyes. When he put his hands on her waist, there was no turning back. Neither of them said a word. She put her wet hands on his chest. He dipped his head down and found her lips. Then he was kissing her and she was kissing him back. He pulled her closer, until their bodies touched…
Yeah, he did it… but how far will it go?
I hope you continue to be intrigued by Sophie and Ben. Stay tuned for more from The Summer of Second Chances. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Please don’t miss the other Weekend Writing Warriors. Head on over and check out the work of dozens of other writers. You’ll be so glad you did.
A view of the dune behind Willow Point lighthouse. The steps to the lighthouse are just to the right.

I like how Marcia phrased it–feels like I’m intruding on them. 🙂 You’ve done a great job, thus far, with the slow buildup to the “do it or don’t” moment. Slow torture… 🙂
Nan
Hey Teresa–I’m a little behind this week. So glad you like it!!
Millie Burns
Love this…I like some trepidation in the man. It’s usually the female character who is hesitant. Nice twist for me.
Nan
Thanks, Millie–it’s fun to write a vulnerable man.
Sandra Nachlinger
Lovely kiss! Once he touched her, it was all over. So sweet.
Nan
Thanks for coming by, Sandra!!
Skye
There’s this soft anticipation about this snippet. Instead of the frantic scrambling of bodies that seems to occur in so many books, there’s this hushed beginning that makes me feel like holding my breath. Nice!
Nan
Skye, love your turn of phrase–“soft anticipation.” That’s great! Glad you’re enjoying it. Hugs, baby!
Charmaine Gordon
And what happens next, Nan? Lovely and gentle snippet. Thanks.

Get writing. We need more of the Women of willow Bay. I loved your last 3 books. Can’t wait for this one.
Nan
Almost done with this one, Har, and the next one is brewing… Thanks for coming by!! Love you, babes!
Marcia
Nice excerpt! Enough detail to give readers a great visual. I almost feel like I’m intruding on them 🙂
Nan
Thanks, Marcia! Good–I’m glad the intimacy vibe is there. So glad you stopped by!
