• Sunday Snippet: The And We’re Off…Almost Edition

I am beyond excited right now. I passed excited on Friday and I’m into full-on thrilled and nervous because on Tuesday, writer pal, fellow Tule Publishing author, and roomie extraordinaire, Carol Light, and I are headed to Montana! Yup. I decided that if I was going to write about Montana, I should go out to Big Sky Country and check out the glorious mountains and ranches and rodeos for myself. I asked Carol if she wanted to come, too, and she hopped onboard, so the mystery writer and the romance author are off on a big adventure! Next week, Carol and I will be here nightly with reports on where…

  • Sunday Snippet: The Pure Joy Edition, Plus A Real Snippet!

It’s been hot and sultry here in the Midwest–temperatures in the nineties every day with humidity to match. T-storms come out of nowhere, shower us for a few minutes, and then the blazing sun returns to make the atmosphere even more heavy. It’s hard to even catch your breath outside. Except for morning or evening walks with my neighbor, I mostly stay inside in the AC and work and write. I set a goal each morning–this many pages done on an editing gig or this many words written today. I pretty much accomplish whatever goal I set. I mean, after all, when it’s too hot to be outside in the…

Today I’m so pleased to welcome fellow Tule author, Kate Moore to the Author Spotlight. Her historical romances bring a touch of fun and a little different take to the genre. • Author Spotlight: Love at the Chocolate Shop with 6 Amazing Authors!

I’ve already mentioned that I’m moving settings and will be writing my next four books in Marietta, Montana, Tule’s fictional western town at the foot of Copper Mountain. Marietta is full cowboys and rodeos and ranches and romance–I already love it there! One of the coolest shops in Marietta is Sage Carrigan’s Copper Mountain Chocolates. I had so much fun taking my Forever Cowboy main characters, Beth and Del, into the chocolate shop, where she salivated over all the sweet treats! This week, I’m delighted to welcome six fellow Tule authors to the Spotlight today with a fun and fabulous new chance to win all twelve Love at the Chocolate…

  • Sunday Snippet: The I’m Still Learning Edition

It’s been a tough week for me, for the country, for the world, and I debated long and hard about what my column for today would be. I could so easily rant here–it’s my space, I can say what I want. But I don’t want this to be a political platform. I prefer to keep this about my writer life, my editor life, and some things about just being Nan.  If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram or Bluesky, you know where I land, so I opted to talk writing instead, because as my friend and fellow author Anne Stuart so aptly puts it: “Everything in my life is…

  • Sunday Snippet: The Words Sometimes Come Hard Edition

I’m in a weird place with this new work-in-progress. I like the story, I like the characters, but somehow I’m having a problem getting them to move along. I have more notes about this first story in my new series than I did starting out any other River’s Edge series, mostly because a lot of this story happens away from River’s Edge. But I also have more word notes, more conversation notes, more scene notes than any book I’ve ever written. It’s almost as if I’m writing the book in my notes, but when I get to the computer, the words are coming hard. Funny thing is, I know this…
