Sunday (Whoops, Thursday) Snippet: The Happy New Year Edition

Today is the first day of 2026, and frankly, I’m skipping resolutions and a word for the year and planning all the ways I’m going to succeed and be amazing this year. My plan for 2026 is to simply survive another year of this regime. Well, okay, not simply survive, I also intend to do what I can do to resist and get educated on how I can best fight for our Constitution and the rule of law. That might mean donating to causes, marching in protests, and voting in important elections, but it won’t mean posting and reposting that resistance on Facebook. On Facebook, I’m preaching to the choir. Most of my followers are in the same camp I’m in and the ones who aren’t, probably just roll their eyes and scroll on. So my FB will be filled with light and love and joy and reminders of who are, and of course, lots of books news.

But, I do have a mission in 2026: I intend to boost my life as an author and to boost my fellow authors as well. We are a community–authors all–and we need to support each other in an industry that is going through a sea change unlike any we’ve seen since the beginning of digital publishing. AI and all that entails could easily make us irrelevant or worse, obsolete. Books, in all their forms are too important to be written by computers. Books need hearts and emotion and that rare quality that touches the souls of readers. Only human authors can do that.

So you will see lots of my fellow authors here in 2026. You’ll see me plugging books and books-to-film by authors that I know and love and authors that are new to me. I’ll be offering opportunities for authors to appear here on my blog and encouraging readers to participate. Watch this space … and discover wonderful new mysteries, fantasies,  cozies, women’s fiction, historical fiction, sweet romance, historical romance, ah…so much romance! Authors, if you’d like a spotlight, let me know. I have a lot of Wednesdays and Thursdays to fill, and I’d love to fill them with you and your books!

Happy New Year and may 2026 be your best reading year ever!
