Sunday, Whoops, Monday Snippet: The Author on the Road Edition
Yeah, I missed posting the snippet yesterday, but I have a valid excuse–I was on the road. Pal Mo and I were driving to Wisconsin for a writing retreat. It’s bittersweet being here because this was supposed to be the fall writing retreat with Liz. However, Liz was unable to do this retreat with me, and since sis had gotten the condo in the Dells for us, I figured I’d ask someone else to join me.
Confession to Mo, I did ask Husband if he wanted to join me in Wisconsin. He very kindly declined. I think the idea that he would simply be doing the same thing up here as he would be in the comfort of the little brick house at home didn’t really appeal. Waiting for Nan to finish writing for the day isn’t all that much fun anywhere really. Instead he said, “see if Mo would like to go.”
Mo was all in, particularly because she has family in eastern Wisconsin, so we’re headed that way after our week here in the Dells to visit with her kin. And she is making blanket for her college freshman grandson while I write, so she’s busy, and we’re working at opposite ends of the long dining room table–her craft, my story. I hope she’s going to be okay if I “Liz” her with a request for a word now and again…
We’ll do some other stuff while we’re here–check out some wineries, go to Devil’s Lake state park, maybe take a boat tour, plus take long walks around the resort. This one is just lovely, but very family-oriented, so kids… lotsa kids. But the noise level is at a minimum and I’m getting words in. Here’s a pic of our pretty fireplace and last night’s wine–Whyte Horse Traminette. Tonight? Hmmm…
So… there we have it. I’ll report in on FB and Instagram as the week goes on, but it’s mostly going to be writing and blanket making. Ho hum and yawn…
Gratitude for This Week: Husband gets Grandboy time; this lovely condo; the Dells are just beautiful; time with Mo; and being able to stay in touch with Liz by text and gChat–I miss you, Lizzie!
