Sunday Snippet: The December memos Edition
It’s time for another edition of the Memos, which is your sign that Nan is coming up short on Snippet topics this week. I do find doing the memos fun, though. Hope you do too. Onward…
Dear Readers Who Stopped by My Book Signings This Month,
Sure loved seeing you and I do so appreciate you coming out to buy books and visit with me! It’s always fun to share reading news with you! Thanks for buying my books as holiday gifts–what fun I had packaging them up for you!
Always Happy to be Meeting Readers and Signing Books,
Nan

It’s about two weeks ’til Christmas, and you’ve brought us snow. It’s lovely and it’s plenty, thank you. We don’t need any more right now, this is just enough that it feels like the holidays. Although, we could do without the below zero temperatures because that’s way too cold for me to be out playing in the snow.
Wouldn’t Mind it a little warmer, but again, thanks for the snow,
Nan

Dear Christmas Shopping,
I know. I know… time to get creative for my loved ones, but here’s the thing, my loved ones are so very blessed already. Okay if I mostly skip you this year and give my shopping money to those in real need?
Knew You’d Understand,
Nan

Dear Book in Progress,
Hold tight, I’m getting there. I know that your whole story is right there in my head and that all I have to do is let it out. Help me, okay? Cooperate and come together. I promise we’ll both be very happy when I’m done and so will my editor.
A Little Overwhelmed,
Nan

Dear James Taylor,
Thank you for your Christmas CD! It’s awesome and as usual, I’ve nearly worn it out this Christmas. I especially love your rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “River.” You are, as always, amazing.
Caroling,
Nan

I love your Christmas lights! I’m so enjoying all the displays! Thanks for lighting up the ‘hood! Our lights are low-key this year, but we’re still shining brightly, thanks to Husband’s efforts this week.
Feeling Like the Holidays,
Nan

I’m sorry, somehow the need for pounds of Christmas treats isn’t as urgent this year. I loved baking with sister as she prepared cookies for the church Cookie Walk, and the annual Poppy/Grandboy cookie gun cookie baking event made for a fun morning, but the rest of it, I think we’re going to pass on this year. Neither of us need the calories and we’re going to find the sweet in Christmas in other ways. Maybe next year…
Sweetly,
Nan

Gratitude for this week: Victories for our side in Indiana Virginia, New Jersey, and Miami this week–hope burns bright; listening to Christmas music each morning after meditation brings me such pleasure; Wine and cheese tasting with the other grandparents–a night with the “back channel” was fun! Husband put up the outside lights–our house shines; Time with sister is always a treat!
Stay well, stay safe (masks in a crowd and vaccines, darlings, viruses are everywhere), always choose kindness, and most of all, mes amis, stay grateful!

Love your memos! Mine is to myself, although I’m borrowing it from…oh, you’ll know. Memo to Liz: “All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.” See you later this week!
