Sunday Snippet: The I Got Nothin’, So Fast Facts Instead Edition

Liz and I often talk about how hard it can be to write a weekly column. It isn’t that we don’t enjoy the writing, we certainly do because, you know,  writing. It’s just that sometimes topics can be elusive. We are both fascinating women, but even as interesting as we are, we don’t always have something brilliant to say.

With that in mind, today, I’m giving you five fast facts about me–things you might not already know (although that will surprise me, I’ve been around for quite a while) and then I’m going to ask you to give me five fast facts about yourself in the comments? Sound fun? Good… let’s go…

Five fast facts about Nan:

  1. I’ve been married to the same guy since I was 19 years old. Yes, a child bride, but with love, listening, and humor, we’ve made it work for 53 years.
  2. In that same vein, but not really, my parents were divorced when I was six. I was devastated and blamed my mom for years. Turned out she was the amazing parent. I’m glad I figured that out before it was too late to tell her how proud I was of her.
  3. We had horses for sixteen years. I started riding when I was forty and I loved it. Our horses were so much fun and so was barn life. I learned a lot and that knowledge has become invaluable as I’ve transitioned from writing in River’s Edge to writing in Marietta, Montana.
  4. I’m a picky eater. I didn’t know that about myself until I’d lost 90 pounds, but there are things I simply do not care for–doughnuts, salad dressing, sauce on pasta… It’s a list way longer than I ever knew back when I ate anything that didn’t eat me first.
  5. My most intimate friends (you know who you are) are ones that have come to me later in life. Even though we share a relatively short history, I can’t imagine my life without them in it.

There you have it. Your turn! There’s an e-book copy of Help Wanted, Cowboy  (ninja!) for three commenters, so make me a list. Can’t wait to hear your five fast facts.

Gratitude for This Week: Time with Grandboy; Son made it home safely from Sweden; Good docs who care; Planning for three fall book signings; riding my bike makes my knee feel better.

Stay well, keep speaking out–we must in order to save our democracy, always choose kindness, and most of all, mes amis, stay grateful!

    Hi! My fun facts are;

I’ve been married for 40 years to my wonderful husband.

I have 1 daughter and 3 sons and am dying to be a grandma. (Nothing yet.)

    I’m a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.

    I love the L A Dodgers.

I will retire on October 23rd after 45 years in banking! I look forward to being able to read more books!

Oooh, first off congratulations on 53 years with the same guy. Y’all are just too cute. Okay, five fun facts:
    1. I’ve been married 3 times, (third times the charm?) and we will hit the 37th anniversary in a couple weeks.
    2. I finished writing my memoir from a subscription my husband ordered for me and it kind of depressed me over some of the traumas in my life.
    3. I do adore my four-footed family members more than I should.
    4. Though I have wanted to be a published author since I could hold a pencil, my first book didn’t come out until I was 48.
    5. In my heart, I wish my wardrobe was filled with long, flowing gowns for daily wear. In reality, I’m a leggings and tunics gal.
That wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, lol.
    Happy Sunday.

    Oh, cool! Five things? Hmm…

    1. I’m a terrible typist, which wouldn’t be a big deal except that sometimes I equate it with being a terrible writer. They are not the same.

    2. With the exception of two winters in Florida and six months when I was single, I have lived my entire life in Miami County, Indiana, and I love it here. If you know my politics, you understand just how remarkable this is.

    3. I don’t know how many books I’ve written.

    4. I have seven grandkids and one great-grandson. They are all perfect.

    5. Sort of like Nan’s #5, some of my closest friends have come later in my life and I am so eternally grateful to have not only them but the ones who’ve been around since 1st grade.

Yeah, I’m still kind of boring, huh? That’s okay, though–I’m happily boring!
