8-Sentence Sunday

weekend_writing_warriorsveteransbadge_4How did it get be Sunday again already? Whew! Well, we’re still in The Summer of Second Chances, Book 3 of the Women of Willow Bay series. I’m jumping ahead a little (and using some creative punctuation to bring you this snippet). Ben has been in Willow Bay for two weeks. While he’s been busy writing, Sophie Russo has been drooling over him. She’s torn between finding out if he’s feeling the same attraction she’s feeling and believing it’s best to suck it up and just remain friends and colleagues. When she shares her dilemma with Jules, her friend encourages her to go for it, to enjoy a hot summer fling, and then go back to simply being Ben’s editor. Scene comes in on Jules speaking:

“Loosen up; it doesn’t have to be relationship. What’s wrong with a summer romance?” There was that ornery lilt again, “just have some fun, why don’cha?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” Sophie chewed her lower lip, “a summer romance? Maybe.”

Visions of a naked and willing Ben Dugan danced in her head, “Maybe I could do that,” she sat up straighter. Now the images included her, also naked and very willing, and she repeated with more determination, “yeah, sure. I could totally do that.”

I hope you’re intrigued. Stay tuned for more from The Summer of Second Chances. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Please don’t miss the other Weekend Writing Warriors.  Head on over and check out the work of dozens of other writers. You’ll be so glad you did!
